I do have to offer further props that he was able to get enough publicity to attract Engadget's hairy eye. $ony should take heed of what the modders (hardware & software alike) and embrace them instead of turning a deaf ear. If they would have followed the PSP2 render that's been floating around forever and not tried to cut out the middle-man; i.e., retailers selling physical copies of PSP software, the PSP-Go might have hit a little harder than it did. Who thought SHRINKING the game screen was a good idea?! And Sony didn't get rid of the PSP 3000... that's a confession from Sony that this PSP go is an experiment and first step into the all digital future. Everyone keeps saying Sony was way behind the digital curve with blu-ray, and now way ahead with PSP go. They are just trying various things and seeing what happens.

Meanwhile, I will keep my PSP 1000 until there is a PSP with two analog sticks. The PSP-1000 and beyond can handle rather large MemSticks (up to 32gb if I remember correctly). You can load up quite a few games on that bad boy. If you go with the stock standards, you have full access to PSN and can pretty much do what the PSP Go can (asides from being smaller). If you go with custom firmware, you can rip your UMD's directly and run them, or load up tons of emulators and ROM's for some portable retro gaming... You could easily fit all SNES and Genesis ROM's on a memstick...

In addition, the replaceable battery means you can keep playing if you have a spare battery...instead of having to tether to an outlet or wait for the thing to recharge. The original PSP, in general, was a very powerful device. IR ports, standard mini-USB and a slew of other features make it very functional and moddable (asides from Sony intentionally crippling it). I currently use it to control my XBMC Media Center like one of those $500 remote controls that have a full display on them (it runs commands through Wi-Fi, but I'm working on getting the IR port to transmit the proper remote codes).

The PSP 3000 is the final word, the 'digital age' as it's called is likely inevitable, but I for one still enjoy the physical media to a certain extent. And I -am- an avid user of Netflix, Steam, iTunes, and other digital distribution networks.
