The OS is a totally different story. When you got market control of software applications from 3rd parties the market is in your favor no matter what OS your bring to the table.
Mac Os is well known to have less bugs, less compatibility especially from Microsoft made apps/software but a superior Os. It's much easier to use for the elderly and beginners.

Propriety devices, needed adapters and lack of price discrimination is Apple's downfall. Apple needs to let computer manufactures to produce their product for expansion of their market.
