Looking at what AT&T's done with the Iphone, Sprint's done with the Pre and T-Moblile's done with the G1. Verizon need's a phone to push them to pull people from carriers. It could've been done with the Blackberry Storm but, Verizon rushed it for the holidays. Now seeing this it seems that the news lately has been less of Verizon concentrating on their network but more on what phones are coming around the way.

From the soon to come Palm Pre to the rumored Tegra Accelerated phones coming to Verizon. They have to have an open policy on their high-end phones because when a user gets a new phone like that. They're going to test the limits of where their phone can go and if they find that another carrier can do what they don't allow their customers to do. That could be one less customer that they could've had for two years.

I think in the end it'll come down to the low end phones being locked down with packaged in apps and the high-end phones being completely open. But having that open phone will come at a price. For instance having a Blackberry Storm through Verizon you'll have to have an unlimited data plan. Even if you rarely use this function Verizons still getting their money back even though their customers aren't going to their app or ringtone stores...

Platinum_Skeet

Comments on

It's like the couple that's fighting, about to break up, and then decide to move in together.

APaps

Comments on

I want that

Balbasour

Comments on

yes. yes. yes. yes.
