The fact of the matter is that fast Flash is expensive. This is not the same Flash you get in those SD cards. This stuff is much faster and therefore each cell takes up a lot more space. More space on Silicon means more cost.<br><br>The cost of any semiconductor product is inversely proportional to yield, which is inversely proportional to area of each chip. Thus the cost of said semiconductor is directly proportional to the area of the semiconductor.
