Unless the machine is purely for movie watching (in which case a 1920x1080 is the only variant I'd take), a 16:10 screen is generally preferable for it's versatility and depending on the application, even a 4:3 screen. Why 4:3? For anyone who uses their machine for work - 4:3, i.e. taking 1280x1024 over a 1400x900 screen, is preferable for use with single documents (i.e. a writer who is writing some hundreds-of-pages long novel, or a programmer - where every last pixel of vertical space helps with putting more lines of code on the screen). 4:3 is also preferable for pure-tablet functionality, since 16:10 makes the screen too long and awkward to hold. 4:3 is more like a piece of 8.5" by 11" paper.

wickedpheonix

Comments on Lenovo intros SL410 and SL510 ThinkPads overseas

There is a simple solution for people who want more vertical space: Move your taskbar to the left side of the screen. However, can be a bit noisy now and then when gaming or working with video and if you take you lappy everywhere with you, then a Tseries and it's stronger chassis is a better bet. The SL410's multitouch trackpad would be great but life goes on and there's nothing there that screams need to upgrade.

IMHO SL400s are a great option for those like me who want a well built, reasonably priced laptop as a home computer/occasional travel and don't want to spend a fortune on what is at the end of the day, just a computer. I've been a fan of Thinkpads for a long time. I am in medical school right now, and I need a Thinkpad that has a good screen for watching lectures, color slides..., small enough to carry around and with a good battery life. I was debating between the SL 410 and the T400. I was told the SL 410 has a better screen than the T400. What do you guys think? I will be spending hours in front of the computer so a good screen is important to me.

Thank you all!!

mabuhamda
