Android is so insanely efficient, makes such tiny use of CPU, single charge will be 4x ( 10x? ) of bloated, bazillion KLOC Windows.

If having your net book running for *days* without charging the battery is important to you, then an Android net book is perfect.

Your battery life won't get up anywhere near that much with a OS change, no matter how efficient the OS is. I'd wager 30% more battery life max would be a lot more realistic.

The fact of the matter is that the x86 architechture is very inefficient. No matter how little you use the processor, it still consumes a lot more power compared to architechtures that have been designed to be portable and efficient from ground up. Like the ARM.

Making an Android netbook with an x86 processor is like trying to build an economy car out of a gas-guzzling SUV. That aside I wish they started using this idea for mobiles!
Same hardware more choice of OS.

Say, if the HTC HD2 came with Android as well, I'm not saying it would be better for everyone, but it would sure make a hell of a lot of people happy. So please Stop making 6000 devices a day, which I can't really get my head around, just make a few great product and give us CHOICE!

So, summing up,
1. OS choice: awesome!
2. Poor OS choice: silly, but not too big of a problem, since we have alternatives!!!

I'm still loving 7 since the beta and can't wait to grab a copy when I build a new rig or if I'm lazy, buy a new one. It's great that I don't boot into Ubuntu as often anymore, well to be honest at all now since 7. I now don't relegate Windows to gaming only as I did with Vista even though Vista was no where near as bad as suggested. If you want a fast booting alternative to Windows just for online uses, the latest version of Moblin in a dual boot situation is the fastest (and much nicer than Android interface wise). Right now I'm running Windows 7/Moblin.

If you want full featured replacement for Windows, Ubuntu does the trick nicely.

I see NO benefit of running Android, which won't boot much faster than Moblin, and has the added benefit of having apps that aren't even designed for the form factor.

At least on my MT3G I have no problems with the battery, could easily last 2-3 days without a charge, I just don't push it

I would like to add that in MY ideal world I would rather have one of the AmigaOSes or Haiku in the third position that Linux currently occupies or heck, even in the top spot as they are how an OS should run and function but reality bites and this is not the case.
