I guess I'll have to see one. A good 10" netbooks is about an inch small in both horizontal and vertical than the 11 inch model. And thinner. The 11" is actually not that thin from the specs--my behemoth Thinkpad is 1.2" thick too. I assume its mostly not 1.2" thick though, just around the battery or something, but I can't tell that from the specs.

A netbook is something you throw in your travel bag for occasional use. You leave it out in plain site in your hotel room cuz hey, nobody is going to steal it and even if they do... You pack it in your bag because it basically doesn't take any space. You use it on the plane in the tight little seats cuz you have room to open it even if the guy in front of you has his seat reclined. Etc.

I know a 13" laptop doesn't meet these criteria for me, but I'm unsure about these new 11 inchers. Would I be happier with a 720p display on an HP 5101 or this thing? I assume the 720p display on a 10-incher would be a bit squinty. And the prices would probably be similar by the time I upgraded the display...

Fanfoot

Comments on Acer's 11.6-inch Timeline 1810T gets ceremonious christening, Oct. 22nd launch date

No, they have it right. Absolutely love my 3810 and will be getting this version of the 1410 next week for the wife as she needs one. I never liked Acer back in the days but these new laptops are just impossible not to notice. Plus this is about the size of a netbook and has the high res screen. I do hope they improve viewing angles on this screen though but not a huge deal. Also, have been pleasantly surprised that battery life is as advertised if not better. I can squeeze 9 hours if I really need to. Also one more thing that isn't stressed enough about these Acer laptops is the multitouch trackpad. Two finger swiping for browse forward and back along with the circular scrolling is an absolute life saver. Not as good as the Macbooks but as close as I've ever used.I would LOVE if these included ION though. That would be absolutely perfect as you can only do older games on the integrated chip.

hawkeye1977
