I'll stick to passive or non passive reference speakers with a cd player, and i'm content. I do agree once you hit a certain price point one is wasting their money on speaker cable or interconnects. They saved my sanity by being magnificently transporatable from back-blocks to backward country to any posting where any audio was real, not amplified, and sometimes magnificent. But often not, and a welcome retreat could be made to my big ribbons. They which came with elegant removable wooden plinths to hold them upright, or could be hung from ultra-thin wires from rafters for performances, and which could soak up my grossly extravagant (shipping costs-wise) Nakamichi 2 series.
