Cell recording itself has been done for decades, with the earliest I am familiar with being in the 1970's, when it took off.  The technique has largely stayed the same, though modern storage and processing speed allow us to analyze the data in much more sophisticated ways. I heard David Tank describe this experiment, and if I remember correctly, it is the mouse getting the water as a reward. An animal's life is not of equal worth to a human for 99.9% of the human population:  With sentience comes privileges.  And one of those privileges is learning how things work by experimenting on animals.<br><br>I view experiments like this as I would med students on corpses.  It's an ethical and useful practice as long as you aren't doing it for your own amusement.  The animal's life does deserve respect, but not in equal proportion to my own.<br><br>So sorry, I don't think your movement will ever have a significant impact.  It's hard to relate to an animal that breeds like crazy.
