It responds exactly like a Korg padKontrol, and any other synth. The harder you hit the pads, the louder the sound. This is due to our patent pending VelAUcity technology. You can read more about this on our web site.

iGOG also has a mode called mic triggering mode, which lets you tap other objects, like tables, etc. to trigger the drums. This technology is something we used from our Drumagog drum replacer plug-in.

Regards,
Rim Buntinas
WaveMachine Labs, Inc.

Rim Buntinas

Comments on iGOG VelAUcity brings velocity-sensitive drums to your humble iPhone

No it is not, I am playing with it right now and no matter if I tap lightly or firmly, I get the same sound and I have tried changing the "VelAUcity TRACKING" to various positions with no change. It is truly velocity sensitive. However, a couple of things to keep in mind. First, you need to use headphones for it to work well. Second, you can't have a lot of background noise in the room. The reason for this, is because iGOG uses the iPhone's built-in mic to do it's velocity tracking. It works remarkably well when set up right. If you listen to the video closely (the video called "VelAUcity demo"), you'll see what I mean. When I start the video, I tap the snare pad several times in a row with different velocities.

I should also point out that the velAUcity tracking and mic triggering doesn't currently work on iPod Touches, due to the fact that they don't have mics.

Rim Buntinas
WaveMachine Labs, Inc.

Rim Buntinas

Comments on iGOG VelAUcity brings velocity-sensitive drums to your humble iPhone

It's nice to hear a developer chime in! These guys wrote Drumagog, which is a really great drum replacer plugin. My studio uses it all the time. They use the same sounds in this app as in Drumagog. I've been a Drumagog user for years, and this sounds just like the plugin in my studio rig. The velocity thing works well, but you do need to have a pair of headphones on to use it. I had a lot of trouble installing it at first, and it crashed a few times, but I think that was due to being low on memory. I restarted my phone and it worked. I wush there was a way to get multiple sounds to trigger by hitting my table. Now THAT would be cool!

Nathan

Nathan Wilke

Comments on iGOG VelAUcity brings velocity-sensitive drums to your humble iPhone

>Are you trying to sell your product on Engadget?

I'm just trying to help out.
