pièce de résistance is the Seline10 artificial intelligence software that's been in development for a decade, if you can believe it. Its purpose is to act as your secretary / assistant, and while the novelty's good, we all know how well
Clippy worked out. Fret not though, it's just an optional extra and shouldn't detract from the appeal of a device that offers 3G and a/b/g WiFi connectivity, one VGA and three USB ports, multicard reader, webcam, microphone, and the old faithful 1.6GHz of Atom power. A price of under €500 is being touted, with further details set to emerge over the coming days.

When is someone going to make a 16:9 tablet with a 6 inch display? It should be full display surface (ie, the frame better not have fat margins between the sides and the display's end ..ideally the display surface should be flush with the edges).
I wish people would stop whining about screen bezels.
They are a necessity in a handheld device. Unless you like permanent thumb prints on your screen from holding your device. Not to mention the protection they give the screen from the small drops and bumps that these devices, when actually used, encounter

That is the most idiotic comment I have repeatedly heard. Thicker bezels do not imply better smudge resistance- on a TOUCHSCREEN device.
The Archos 5 IMT has the best screen real-estate-to-bezel-thickness ratio, in my opinion. It is elegant enough in appearance and practically-sized to hold without blocking the screen with the hand holding it.
I hate thick bezels with a vengeance. I also hate non-glass display surfaces that pick up scratches like skateboard wheels. Slighty less hated is to have devices whose display is recessed- makes cleaning them a chore because of gunk always getting at the corners.
Glass screen. Capacitive + Stylus active-matrix is the way to go. N-Trig is a company that should have made a lot of money by now.

Sigh, Resistant Screen and 1024 X 600. Seriously, device with a screen bigger than 10 inches should even be made with a less that WXGA (1366 X 768). And I don't care if the device doesn't have the processing power for HD video. It might in the future and I want the screen space. Just stop making those 1024 X 600 screens! I don't understand why no one is making a 10 inch Ion powered WXGA netbook. In fact I don't really understand why anyone is making 11 and 12 inch netbooks anyway. SMALL IS THE POINT!

Interesting. I'm not sure I'm sold on the "personal secretary" but I do believe that it's the software side (not hardware) that will allow some of these netbook/mid devices to succeed over the others.
Think of any device out there and it's the software it runs, not the hardware it offers that really makes it successful. Perhaps a failed attempt but a nice try.
Are you kidding? Software is easily swapped to whatever the user wants. It's the hardware that cannot be changed, so good hardware is what sells.

On a more serious note I think virtual girl is significant in that it's a virtual reminder to everyone that personal assistants should be young and attractive, with nice eyes and DSL's, long hair, and always be in "listening mode" (a.k.a. STFU). Lastly, no gag reflex.

I just wish all these netbook makers would get an ION based convertible tablet to market, like an EEE PC T91 with the extra video power. From a hardware point of view, the T91 actually looks THINNER than this thing. Hell, this think looks as thick as a year old Aspire One.
Keyboardless MID type devices are always going to be a niche product compared to a convertible in the 10-11.6" range.
If someone manages to get a convertible with ION graphics, and a good 6-8 hour battery life (real world), and some Pixel Qi magic on the screen, it'll be a great portable computer, everyday ebook reader and media device.
Whats the graphics processor? If its Ion Im sold....
