M$ pays quite a bit better, and I personally know of at least one mgr lvl employee who has switched over, and several more (non mgr) who have have been approached.

So, it really is not just one manager, its a real drive to poach away Apple's talent. really, can you be surprised somebody is leaving (if rumours are correct) for better wages and better career advancement opportunities? The Apple Stores are established already. Helping MS's stores establish themselves from day one is very valuable experience and really helps you advance your career as a store manager.

Besides, I think Steve Jobs said that even he was a little creeped out by the Apple fanboys. Knowing Apple (and I've worked with them for years so I know them well) they probably treated her like shit, with mediocre pay and constantly changing mandates from His Holiness.

Re: the store... Apple found a good retail model and someone copied it. Just like Apple copied many of their idea for the Mac from Xerox.

The Apple Store was bright, airy and usually packed. The Sony Store was much darker, smaller, uninviting and rarely had more than a handful of people in it. Within three months, Sony moved their location within the mall, to the third floor, I think to escape the juxtaposition.

I don't really think Apple followed the Sony model, if anything, it's closer to a GAP store for computers.

Some of these tech bloggers and similar commentators have a nasty habit of taking swipes at former Apple employees that go work for Apple competitors (i.e. leave the cult).
