Minox NV mini II makes night vision pocketable

There's certainly no shortage of portable night vision gear available for those that often find themselves out and about at night, but there's few quite as pocketable as Minox's new NV mini II scope, which (as you can see) is almost small enough to fit on your key ring. You'll still get 2x magnification despite that diminutive size, however, and a built-in infrared illuminator for "perfect vision" even in complete darkness. Still no word on a price, but this one should be available from all your usual night vision retailers by the end of the month, if it's not already.

@OneLove, sophisticated stalker. Black leather trench coat to match with a nice tie and black under jacket.
"No reason why you have to look like a stalker while stalking." - Minox
You gotta give it to them... Becoming a stalker is definitely inexpensive... Nice move
Yeahhhhh, now i can start stalking that girl i had a crush on, ohhh i know she like me too, i know she wouldn't mind me staring at her from the bushes.
Yes, but can it see through clothing?
Mynox, Chewy... They're chewing on the power cables.
Perfect for night time dorm room panties raids. Technology for the assist!
Yes this will be great at night on campus when I'm spying on gir...err I mean when I'm looking for loose change I dropped.
Just in time for Devil's night. Hee Hee Heeee
What's the effective range on these things?
Perfect for helping make Paris Hilton inspired films I suppose?
Man that's nice! The one I have is about ten or twelve years old, and quite a bit bigger. About the size of a hand held video camera.
If they can fit a 5x optical zoom in a tiny pocket camera why is this thing stuck at 2x? Why can't they make a compact, high zoom, night vision that I could use for ..... completely legitimate purposes.....
Two words: Lens size.
Higher telephoto zooms on cheap optics also result in narrow fields of view. This is is because the objective lenses are relatively small, and small aperture means not very much light gets in. You can have a very wide field of view AND have large magnification AND let in a lot of light, but the unit will be much bigger and be "all glass" as a camera guy would say, and be very expensive and heavy.
For anther analogy, take a look at a rifle scope. You can get cheap scopes with high magnification, or cheap scopes with wide fields of view, but a scope with both will cost 10x.
Pshh...let me know when it's Thermal
Stalkers rejoice!
On another note... I wonder if these are better or worse than the ones you can get from Call of Duty: MW2?
Price ?
"Das Minox NV mini II ist ein Nachtsichtgerät, das man auf Grund seiner Kompaktheit immer dabei haben kann. Früher war sowas unerschwinglich – heute kostet es nur noch 815 Franken."
815 Swiss francs = 794.347085 U.S. dollars
Small things have their price ;-)
Rotate that image 90 degrees clockwise and it'll actually make sense
Actually, apart from dorm room raids, tricks on friends and the like, night vision gear may turn out really useful... for example my father, who is 78 and visually impaired, found a pair of night vision glasses (or actually, I found them for him) from an italian vendor called Endoacustica Europe. Well, I have no words to thank those guys, this digical device really made my father’s life better: he can go out at night without need to be accompanied, walk even the darkest alley, and enjoy life by going to the movies and so on... really a breakthrough!
