And wasn’t Apple also going to great lengths working on breaking iTunes syncing capabilities using the Windows USB ports?  I don’t know, but it seems like the chicken is coming home to roost. First, the Palm Pre is a WebOS device, not a "Windows" device. Second. Apple hasn't tried to block the iPhone from synching over Windows USB ports (whatever that's supposed to mean). Windows USB ports are the same thing as Mac USB ports. Rarely, I can get the iPhone to sync to iTunes using the built-in chipset. Once it connected and took FOREVER to transfer the data, which gave me an idea: I put a USB 1.1 hub on one of the ports and connected the iPhone that way. IT WORKED! I came home, activated the iPhone through iTunes (Windows 7), and it told me new firmware was available.
