ASUS delivers Eee PC T91MT to Amazon.com, completes world tour
It was only two weeks ago when the ASUS T91MT -- the first-ever Windows 7 convertible netbook -- dropped by Amazon's German site, and now the Eastern wind from Taiwan has finally reached US soil. Amazon.com buyers are offered pretty much the same configuration as their European counterpart: Intel Atom Z520, 8.9-inch multitouch swivel screen, 1GB RAM and Windows 7 Home Premium. While there's only one color option available for now, those who're cool with white will be spoiled with a 32GB SSD -- twice as much as the German version yet $200 cheaper. Any students out there going to pick one of these up for some improved note-taking before Christmas exams?
[Thanks, Bernard]

no thanks
Yeah, I agree... give me an SU-something processor and minimum 2GB ram, and make the screen minimum 1280x720, for $500... and I still wouldn't buy it, 'cause I don't got the green, but I'd sure as hell WANT it. ;-)
No digitizer, no sale.
Sorry Asus, but a portable tablet with a crippled note taking capability isn't worth a penny to me Asus.
haha wow, I actually said Asus twice >_>
No edit function around here huh.
Still Sticking to My Thinkpad X41, It's great for taking notes using onenote. no point in a tablet since you can't search what you have drawn since it wasn't indexed
And Windows 7 Pro from MSDNAA works great on it.
Too bad I can't buy any cool gadgets now since I graduate this Semester with MIS and a 3.8 GPA but no Jobs lined up. Anyone Take me?
I like the ability to draw charts, graphs, equations etc better so pen/tablet is my preference. I find I never search my notes too much anyway and when I am looking for something particular it is easy enough to just flip through the few pages it is bound to be in based on time frame, etc... much like a paper notebook.
Also.. there are some really good programs with image recognition to search handwritten notes anyway. Onenote really isn't too bad if your writing is decent. Evernote is another.
In the end, I just used microsoft journal actually as I liked the light weight and lack of complexity. Very simple to get powerpoints from profs that use them and print them to journal and mark my notes up right there.
OneNote does index handwriting. That's the beauty and why pretty much every tablet owner uses OneNote.
If only it would index PDFs it would be perfect.
When you save a file as onenote it is sent to pdf. although you can't select text you can search it and it highlights it in the image.
If that's an 8.9" screen that arm belongs to someone about 2 foot 6.
Will Asus make an 11.6" CULV notebook?
Acer should be making 3 - the 1820PT, 1820PTZ, and 1420P, though no real news on when they'll be out. They were supposed to release just after Windows 7, but no sign yet, except on Acer's product page. Not sure about Asus.
The 12" UL20a?
The only two tablets I've heard of from Asus are the T91 variants and the T101 (10.1 inch screen).
I'd REALLY like to see what Acer does with the 1820 etc, and they'll have a better chance of getting in most electronic retailers (at least here in Canada). I think it's Acer's ability to get product to mainstream stores that put it at #1 when it comes to the netbook market.
An SU class processor, multitouch convertible tablet with an 11.6 screen would be awesome (and I'd pay extra if it had 3Qi screen technology too).
I'm waiting for the 1201n...
tempting. Except that I just bought a MSI x600.
hello Christmas present :3
would like nice next to my hp tx2z ^^

You're welcome Engadget!
interesting, cuz a Windows 7 "741" advertising booth was setup at my college last Thursday with a slew of demo laptops available. I found this Eee PC tablet and played with it. Very difficult to see anything on the LCD under the sunlight in a mildly cloudy afternoon, but the touchscreen was cool. I had trouble closing applications cuz my fat fingers couldn't touch the "x" on the upper right hand corner.
Did it come with the Microsoft Touch Pack?
The "X" size, scrollbar width etc. are easily increased using standard Windows appearance option.
I'm looking for a nice slim but cheap tablet rocking Win7, and this looks like a contender. Does anyone else have a suggestion for an ultraportable Win7 tablet?
I'm in the same boat.
the 1.33 ghz and 1GB are a bit...questionable to say the least.
anyone with other recommendations? saw the acer tablet available in taiwan a few days back - that looks like it'd be a better choice.
That seems fantastic for me. Anyone want to lend me some money?
What kind of touchscreen tech is this thing rocking? The description says multitouch, but in the picture I see what appears to be a resistive-style stylus. I would certainly hope that the screen isn't capacitive, a tablet computer that doesn't work with a stylus is about the most worthless waste of time I can imagine.
As far as small and portable goes, I've got my Toshiba M200.
1.8ghz proc, 1 gb ram, and an FX Go 5200 graphics card. Plus an active digitzer and a 1440x1050 res (12 in screen). You can pick them up on ebay for $200-300.
And when I want to work that needs computational power, or when I'll be sitting at a desk I use my Gateway E295C.
core 2 duo 2.4 ghz, 2gb ram, radeon HD 2300, 1230x768 (15 inch screen). Picked it up on ebay for $406.
If you really are looking for a small portable tablet, that has a good digitizer, excellent resolution, and dedicated graphics, I would nab the M200 over any netbook tablet anyday. The only problem is that installing win7 is kind of a pain.
Why such a problem installing Win 7 on the M200?
If you have a USB stick that is 4GB or better, you can install Windows 7 with that. You have to use some free software from windows to mount the ISO to the USB stick, but it's really easy. I upgraded my wife's old Toshiba R200 that way. No disk drive.
I had anticipated the T91 anxiously but when they released it with a 1.33ghz processor it was no longer worth looking at for $500, so I went with the Gigabyte equivalent and couldn't be happier.
$350 in the US, $748 in Europe ??!!!
Wxxx Txx Fxxx ?
Asus, how does one say in your language "Go forth and multiply, you farkin' thieves" ?
There is NO justification for that, it´s just a pure RIP-OFF of Europeans - If I EVER would have bought something Asus, now I NEVER will.
May I ask where you got the $350 from...??
The price is $530.
