Dell Mini 9 modded into motion sensitive, touchscreen tablet (video)
True, this ain't the first Dell Mini tablet hack we've laid eyes on -- but what we do have here is a pretty sweet mod by MyDellMini forum member "rock99rock" (must be his confirmation name). In addition to replacing his Dell Mini 9 display with a touchscreen kit, our man re-jiggered an ActionXL motion sensing controller to allow the screen to rotate as you rotate the device. Not bad, eh? Hit that read link for some real radical instrucciones -- but not before checking out the enthralling video after the break.

Joseph, I like you if only for "instrucciones".
Ugly, no ty.
It could be worse... It could be pink and bedazzled with the world "FABULOUS" all over it.
It could have a glossy finish that would scratch for so much as looking at it. Would that be better?
Not everyone like glossy and and silver body.
DELL, WHY DID YOU STOP SELLING MINI 9? I AM DISAPPOINT.
Here's a hint: They DO still sell the Mini 9! You just go to look up the Vostro A90 in their Office/Business section. Vostros are just Inspirons repackaged for business leasing. It still even has the low price point.
To tell the truth, I have no idea why they don't sell the Inspiron Mini 9 when they do still sell the Vostro A90. It's just the Mini 9 with an all-black body.
They still sell the Mini 9, you just have to know where to look :)

people can finally touch their mini, while touching there mini
Wii is next :)
what?
Penis.
all he needs now is a pixelqi screen.
I still think touch screen are useless on devices that have space for a good sized touch pad... the hand seams to simply distract your view of the screen to much IMO, and fatigue sets in if you don't have a place to rest your hand like the area around a touch pad.
That may be true as a general pointer input. On the other hand touch screens are an extremely useful tool for drawing or inking... especially larger ones.
Sorry for the double post - But that's still a cool netbook !!! :)
I agree Gabriel, with Windows 7 out and touchscreens on the prowl along with a plethora of atom setups available, I don't see why more companies are crappin out stuff like that along side those tacky netbooks we keep seeing. I won't buy a netbook but if they put out one of these I would.
Sorry but I wanted to add this as well, so basically what I want is an Iphone with a larger screen but without the phone or Apple.
hmmm, gigantic iphone.

It's cool that he managed to do this, major props to the guy, but really it just highlights how poor Windows 7 is as a touch based operating system.
Hackintosh, plz.

:D
That was the first thing I tried, the OS just wasn't finger friendly at all.
Always good to see some more car computing
Dell still sells the Mini 9... it's just repackaged as the Vostro A90 now:

Do they still sell it in the UK?
My dad used to have a bunch of Dell L400s lying around after his company was about to get rid of them. They were pretty slim and compact for their time, and they seem to have the perfect dimensions for a sweet tablet. Too bad it's really old now, and pretty damn weak.
Wish he didn't get rid of them though, they looked awesome.
and the oscar for best camera goes to...
I'd love to get in contact with this guy! I want one! Wicked looking netbook. Especially with how what WAS the crease where you opened it to the screen and keyboard looks like a silver accent.
Pretty freakin' wicked.
