Motorola Milestone headed to Telus in early 2010
You heard the rumors now it's official: Telus is getting the Motorola Milestone. The Android device is the same 2.0 QWERTY slider already announced for Europe and set to run exclusively on Telus' new 3G+ network in Canada sometime in early 2010. Unfortunately, that means no Google Navigation unlike those pesky North American neighbors to the south. Hmm, in that case maybe you should just wait for the beefier Sholes Tablet expected in Q1 -- just sayin'.

Simply CANNOT wait to get my paws around this baby.
With a name like yours i find it hard to believe that's the only thing you cant wait to get your "paws' on lol...jus playin
With a comment like yours i find it hard to believe that's the only thing you cant wait to be "jus playin' with..jus playin
Yeah... and Telus is likely to disable the wifi, just as they did with the Hero, to force us to use their 3G data plans, with incredibly high prices...
Telus is getting the GSM/HSPA+ version, it will include wi-fi. Unlike CDMA hardware, the carriers have more control what to put inside.
I was surprise why Telus didn't pick up the Droid.
Telus didn't disable wifi on the Hero...

I wonder if we get multi-touch?
@ bootareen:
From the read link:
"Navigation has never been easier with double-tap and pinch and zoom. "
Can't wait to get this one on our side of the border! I wish it would have been released in sync. with Verizon's launch of the Droid but Canada is always a step behind it seems... :( Oh and what is it about our carriers... why do they cannibalize/break every phone they get? I mean, no Google Nav... WTH? This is 2009 people, not your yesteryears! We demand MORE! If only our regulators, the CRTC, wouldn't be completely clueless.....
Maybe Google doesn't have their own nav data for Canada yet?
Yeah no kidding, I am still waiting for the 1.6 update for my Magic. Who would have thought that Canadian carriers could be so lame. Oh wait...
who cares, read the small print under the data plans. it is highway robbery. my fido plan is almost 50% cheaper and it is still too expensive.
wtf no google navigation? @boutch55555 did they really disable the wifi on the Hero?
To all the Telus folks out there getting this: network and nav quibbles aside, you will love this phone. It's worth it.
Check this out:
Looks like this shop has GSM sholes on sale (????)

How is this even possible?
It says in the specs that it is rumored and not yet announced.
How can they sell it when it is just rumored? Not sure.
I'm not eligible for upgrade until February any way, so I guess I will wait and see.
Can somebody please explain this to me
Would it be impossible to install Google Navigation on the GSM version of the DROID?
Do people really think that it will be impossible to load it onto the Milestone ???
According to Google
"It is part of Google Maps for mobile and is available for phones with Android 2.0. "
Just download a hacked version of Android and install, it has everything you need. Google: CyanogenMod
I believe it says that the reason Canada won't get google maps is because it's the european version. that doesn't mean it won't come later though. Also, since it's the euro version, we get multitouch!
QWERTY? More like QWERTZ based on that picture. Weird.
Droid=Verizon, Milestone={Every cellular network on Earth}\{Verizon}. Milestone is Google navigation-less in Europe because of some legal f*ckup about the current European navigation data, not because of simply being Milestone and not Droid. AFAIK Google can use Canadian navigation data, so it's likely that they will get Google Navigation too. But it's just an educated guess...
I do say, Telus has the best customer service out of the 3 (Telus, Bell, Rogers). I was sad when Telus got the iPhone, but this makes me a bit happier. They will actually have a decent phone now.
Customer Service?
I'm with Telus now. A week after signing for one of their package, I called them up to add an additional feature. When it was time add up my monthly amount, their customer service game me a higher price than what I expected. It should had been an extra $5, instead she calculated an extra $35. I told her of the promotional package I just sign (and the reason I signed), but she couldn't find the package...she was giving me the regular prices. She then transferred me to anther person, who tried to convince me there was no package. Finally, I told her I was going to come down to the store and grab the promotional poster deliver it their head office with her name and my issue. She then agreed to give me the promotional package and 3 free voice mail. It's scary to call them back knowing they don't keep promotional deals on their computer, they might set me back to original price.
Motorola Milestone on AT&T baby!!!
I wasn't expecting to see this in Canada till Q3 or Q4 2010. If only it wasn't on Telus' terrible network.
umm... its not on the cdma network its going to be on the new gsm/HSPA network
Err, why no Google Nav? I thought it's free for any Android 2.0 devices?
Google has their own map data for the US now which lets them have turn-by-turn navigation. They don't have their own map data for other countries yet and navigation violate the TOS of whoeever they get their map data from.
