Parrot debuts Android-based Grande Specchio photo frame
We've heard promises of an Android-based photo frame as far back as May of this year, but it looks like the folks at Parrot are now finally set to deliver with their new Grande Specchio designer frame. As you might be able to surmise from words like "grande" and "designer," however, this one doesn't come cheap (a hefty $650), but you do of course get quite a bit for all that extra cash. That includes a large 10.4-inch touchscreen that doubles as a mirror (on purpose), WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port and SD card slot for expansion and, of course, Android hiding under Parrot's custom interface. Unfortunately, it's not clear if you can actually use the frame as full-blown Android device, but you do at least have easy access to a web browser, and Parrot is even promising to develop some apps specifically for the frame -- though it curiously says they'll likely be limited since there is "no easy way to get them installed on the hardware." Look for more details when Parrot officially launches this one on November 17th.

That would be pretty cool if they had a digital photoframe you could put into your wallet. It could have a light sensor to turn it on.
I guess we'll see some of that when OLED comes around.
So basically you mean the Zune HD pictures application?
When are these people going to realize that most people don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a photo frame no matter how fancy it is.
I guess when rich people stop buying them :)
this might be cool if it was a more general touchscreen interface to your pc. wirelessly. have your main pc and monitor in one room and this thing somewhere else.
Grande Specchio? Big Mirror? That's the lamest name for a crappy product ever.
I'm thinking...Android will be put into shoes by the time OHA/Google has it's say.
It probably already is.
I think this product is coming closer to what I really want, which is a device for the whole family were you can leave video notes to other family members (on the same or other frame), a calendar with reminders, the possiblity to print on a lan printer (like grocery list) and, oh yeah, receive pictures directly from my cell phone.
Is that so hard to make?
YES!!! This is the device of my dreams! (like $300 more expensive) but I still want it! Bring more devices like this!
I'm surprised there aren't tons of Android photo frames on the market already...at a more reasonable price. Even a less expensive resistive touchscreen would probably be sufficient. Add WiFi & access to the Android Market, and you could use it for photos, watching videos, listening to music, displaying widgets (weather, time, ...), checking stuff on the web, ...
