HP's 11.6-inch Pavilion DM1 gets unboxed on video
HP's Pavilion DM1 has been floating around for a few weeks now in various corners of the globe, but now it seems as if the CULV-based machine is splashing down in at least a few lairs. Sporting an 11.6-inch display, a built-in 3G SIM card slot and Windows 7, this thing looks an awful lot like the Mini 311 (and for good reason). Granted, we're still waiting for it to ship here in North America, but if you're too impatient to just wait things out, an unboxing video is posted up just past the break for your enjoyment.

I haven't Jason yet. They usually photoshop him onto the pictures when it's Friday the 13th
you dont see him???
With that idiotic glossy screen, it'll be easier to see him coming behind you than what you're working on.
Anyone got a copy of that wallpaper?

Yup. I have an HP Mini 311 and it looks like the same wallpaper.
I'd like to use some of those. Too bad they have the HP and Compaq logo all over them.
Via Liliputing?
I can see Atom logo AND Windows 7 = running REALLY slow
It has a Celeron Ultra Low Voltage CPU, so be quiet.
battery life or speed? Oli D
Speed = faster than Atom.
Battery life = fractionally less than Atom
A paper writer gave this additional info about DM1.
The HP DM1 will feature a 92% full sized keyboard, webcam, 5-in-1 card reader, 3x USB 2.0 ports, HDMI output, and a battery which should provides 9 hours of use.
The HP Pavilion DM1 looks very similar, if not identical to the HP Mini 311 on the outside, and weighs 1.36KG. Via Notebookitalia.
No ION no sale
ION cannons are still too expensive for netbook/notebook hybrids.
Mini 311 has ION cannons
Yea that really is a shame. If ION was included w/ the CULV Celeron SU2300 (which out performs the Atom) or Pentium 4100 that would be one hell of a small light powerhouse laptop.
I mean what are these laptop manufacturers afraid of? Do they not want consumers to buy small, portable laptops with excellent graphic engines and serviceable processors? I would prefer my next laptop purchase to have similar performance to my current IFL-90, graphics included, but in a smaller form factor.
You're better off getting a Dell Mini, something that you can customize.
so its basically and Mini 311 but with a better processor, but minus the ION chip.....
Not basically, that is exactly what it is...
its like a Plus and a Minus at the same time
but i understand why they wont release this in the US. They already have the DM3, and it has the option for the Intel CULV chip (at what I assume is a higer price margin than the DM1/311 with a CULV chip)
basically it comes down to profit in the end
Too bad Lenovo managed to stick a 6-cell battery out of the body of U150, otherwise it would be a perfect sale for me.
Damn, I was hoping I wouldn't see Intel graphics, but lol, yeah right. Is it really that hard to put CULV together with ION and have a decent netbook? I'm glad Intel got taken to the cleaners for that $1 Billion plus, because they're strangling the netbook market with their janky integrated graphics.
Personally I think that instead of losing a billion dollars, they should've had a handful of their crucial patents invalidated and placed in the public domain.
