The x-bar menu is, ah, idiosyncratic, just because the icons are in a particular order on the display does not mean pressing left will actually select the icon to the left of the one you are already on... but hey, such predictability is so overrated, right? But the UI is pretty good (mostly because it was completely ripped off from various sources, notably OS X).

And yes, it does play SNES games. Not all of them but a good proportion of them and when it works, it works well. Except for the button mapping. This thing has dozens of face buttons and shoulder buttons and such but all of them map somewhere in the heady combination of ABX and L; no Y or R-shoulder are available. Which is can be a drawback.

But most importantly, it was recalcitrant in talking to my Mac, got more and more unstable as the first weekend wore on and then, 72 hours in, crashed, and now won't boot; it gets to the splash screen and locks. And as there are no instructions or helpful web sites or even manufacturers names anywhere, that's pretty much that. I could send it back to ChinaDodgy.com but it hardly seems worth it.

So I bought a Dingoo a320 which is absolutely excellent, top notch build quality, loads of online community, plays pretty much everything I have thrown at it and can be dual-booted to Linux for those other emulators you really want (Speccy games anyone?) and is a really, really nice box for us aging gamer types wishing to relive our long-departed youth. I just wish the screen was bigger.

To recap. PXP200, looks promising, but is sloppy and has a glass jaw.
