Remember that both those tragicomic attempts were hotly anticipated and generated a lot of positive buzz right up to the moment when someone could actually try them.
Now SE is giving Android a try and I whish them the best luck also because as soon as a Snapdragon Android smartphone shows up in Europe I will replace my beloved Hero, but considering the precedents I find it very hard to be optimist.
I really hope to be deadly wrong of course, maybe third time really is lucky, and this X10 looks as cool as cool can get; but somehow I feel confident that even in the unlikely event that SE finally manages to produce a competitive (or even just a working) smartphone, HTC´s Passion and Moto's Milestone will both reach the European shores before it, they will both prove to be better choices and in the end it will be one of those to end up in my pocket.
Last time I had an Ericsson phone (Sony did'nt yet join it) it must have been about 10 years ago and my T28i (I actually had 2 of them) was the most desired phone on the planet, and I still have fond memories of it.
If the X10 proves to be a decent handset I may well give it a chance, but not before I have read a few enthusiastic "hand on" reports from reliable sources: this is a company that when it comes to high end smartphones, has to rebuild its reputation from scratch.

Don't think that is true....but I could be wrong. Every single phone has to start with a base version of Android that it works on 100% before adding its own software updates/customizations. They have to make sure their hardware is 100% supported by Android, which has nothing to do with the fancy updates SE puts on it with its own version.

Technically you should be able to flash the phone with a no frills version of Android that it was built on...and be fine
