Microsoft compulsively quashes Natal 'impulse buy' rumors
Sony's said to be launching its PS3 motion controllers sometime early next year and, while that company isn't always the most reliable when it comes to shipping things on time, Microsoft must surely want to get its competition out sooner than later. Last we heard, though, the 360 Natal attachment wouldn't be ready to compete until next holiday season -- but would at least sell for an attractive "impulse buy" price point as low as $50. Now Microsoft's Neil Thompson (the same guy who told us Xbox2Go was a lie) is shattering your 2010 wish list already, denying last week's report and saying the company has "a lot of things" left to figure out before its release. Something tells us MS will handle this a little better than the Wireless N launch debacle.

First
F U first! First at being a d-bag.
My confidence level is low for this thing. I think Microsoft pushed this thing so hard at the last E3, they just can't live up to the hype. And, we're talking Microsoft here folks, not Nintendo or Apple. They will fumble this one.
Year one for Natal will be ass....it's going to be year two or three that count, once developers wrap their heads around this thing. And if developers don't or sales are low, this thing will be relegated to the bargain bin.
Remember, add-ons have never been hugely successful because they break the market up, and developers aren't too keen on spending millions to develop a game for a segmented portion of the overall market.
Eighty Seven Million Six Hundred Ninety Two Thousand Two Hundred Seventy Fourth and a half
Yeah, it's a bit late into the game to be releasing this. It will take a year or two for developers to pick up steam on this and maybe release a game worth buying. By that time, the next Wii HD and XBox 720, PS4 will be on the horizon.
Even at $50, it'll be too late in this generations lifetime to release it.
Just pack it in with the XBox 720 so everyone has it, and let all devs go nuts with it from day 1.
is that some sort of demonoid shirt? i want it.
It does look like the Demonoid logo. Man I wish the site would come back already.
you have no idea man, i cant stand mininova or tpb.

I don't care about this just give me a good game to play that holiday season regardless...T-T
Halo Reach?
It's good!
Hhmmm. I'm curious if Natal will be the next powerglove. It's definitely a "me-too" idea... Funny how the wii-mote haters of old are now trying to "revolutionize" their own way.
If it is $50 for the device, a typical way to sell is $70 w/ the game and people don't mind paying for the add-on.
Engadget, you are so obvious.
Come on guys, they want us to spend our time making fun of the caught in mid pose MS employee that has to wear shades because physical problem that makes him sensitive to bright light.
DIDNT YOU GET THE OBVIOUS MEMO??
are those women's sunglasses?
...how could u even tell?? =/
As has been covered about a MILLION times before, Kudo has a condition causing major light sensitivity. Those glasses are for medical reasons.
KUDO should not be in a enclosed lighted room full of natal fantasies!

"Something tells us MS will handle this a little better than the Wireless N launch debacle."
I needed a good laugh this morning!
Surely engadget could have used this pic in a YMCA photoshop. Come on!
I think it will be great the Sony and 360 have systems that might share multiplatform titles.
It seems like the Ps3 version will have a much easier time figuring out where your hands are, though. I have had a very had time with eyetoy games, because the various rooms I've used it in are not like the development studios. I don't have a flat color wall, I wear shirts that blend, and I generally like to play in a somewhat dimmer room. I have furniture, and my TV is big and further away from me, with the eyetoy.
Can MS's Natal overcome that? I sincerely doubt it. Like Sony's marketing on the eyetoy and eye, it's too easy to pretend this thing works much better than it really works. I think the Ps3's Eye is a solid product, but there's a reason there are no games for it.
The Wii and Time Crisis 4 'cheat' by using something the system can use to determine position in most environments. So does the PS3's doohickey of the future. That's probably going to make the PS3's system more expensive and more effective. But how many years do we have left until the PS4 comes out?
That guy is perfect for the job. Natal Niel will sell and will become a millionaire for having charisma. GJ.
Project Natal is the most exciting well put vaporware sys I ever seen from a big company (well, after PS3 I mean).
On the other side the PS3 movements controls approach seamed far more feasible to the point where I don't know why is not already being released. Maybe they are waiting to solidify their third place on the sales rank for the next 10 years. Who is running that ship?
...what was the debacle of the wireless N adapter. It came out. Sure they didn't promote it, but they also didn't promote the vision cam and the first adapter. It's always amusing when engadget feels like they need to throw something negative into just a run of the mill news story. It's OK guys, we'll still read a story for the content if there aren't any good jokes to be made as well.
Man... Ringo Starr has seen better days...
So, do you all get your shill checks from the big N, or from Sony?
The comment-ors, I mean, not Engadget.
