This is not an OLED TV. They aren't nearly this big yet. However, using LED backlighting an LCD panel can be locally dimmed, leading to an effectively higher contrast ratio. The difference is that the local dimming will apply over a small area of pixels. Let me help you<br>1) Glare - LCDs have less - Plasma have more<br>- What does that mean to you? <br>- If you are buying a TV for a living room with 5 windows in the room - you should buy LCD, if you want a flat panel for a basement - you get Plasma<br>2) Color gamma - Current televisions are capable of displaying only 40% of the color gamut that humans can potentially perceive. <br>- Most plasma do about that except for Kuro - It produces about 60%. <br>- LED has bumped up this number to maybe 45% but colors are just MUCH MUCH better on Kuro. <br>3) Energy efficiency <br>- Plasma will use a lot more energy than LCD and forget it when you compare that to LED.<br>4) Size to Cost ratio:<br>- Plasma "tend" to be cheaper than LCDs. As you know XBR8 is Triluminous LED and XBR10 is regular LED. I personally was more lenient to purchase XBR10 just cause that picture looked better - my opinion. <br>I think that it would be a better to compare XBR10 to XBR12, when it comes out.<br>XBR8 is 120Hz and it has Bravia Engine 2. <br>XBR10 is 240Hz and it has Bravia Engine3. <br>XBR12 Triluminous LED will have 240Hz motion flow and Bravia 3, that's when I think XBR12 will have a better picture.
