BlackBerry Bold 9700 now on sale to all at AT&T: $200 on contract
T-Mobile (along with a number of overseas carriers) have had RIM's BlackBerry Bold 9700 for some time now, and while we knew that the handset was shipping to those who AT&T considers "special" and "irreplaceable," the rest of the collective masses have simply had to sit on the sidelines and wait. Thankfully, that whole bout with patience is over, as the Bold 9700 is now available to order directly from the operator's website for $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and your John Henry on a 2-year agreement. So, anyone forcing Santa to come early this year, or what?

WOW. that font describing the at&t pricing for the blackberry bold 9700 is really easy to read. I wonder if the designer of their site is looking for work say... at engadget?
"John Henry"? You mean you have to take a hammer to the contract?
hahaha, i saw that too. i wonder when they'll catch it
Oh Engadget, sometimes it pays to know your history (and historical figures) even if you're in the tech industry....
For those who have no idea what the reference *should* be, it's "your John Hancock".
You better be a pile driving man.
How do you buy this on no commitment price of $449.99?
If you're doing an upgrade you just check the box of "No Commitment Pricing". I'm not sure how you do it for a new line, but I assume it would be the same.
hi all,
very cheap price! :)
Finally.
Wow, I feel sorry for you yanks. Pretty much every phone in the uk is free on a 24 month data plan.
At least the $30/month seems fairly cheap.. what do you get for that?
You get "unlimited" data - but that's on top of your voice and messaging plan.
You shouldn't feel sorry for the Yanks; have you seen our Canuck prices? Just to get any phone at least 299 we need to sign in a THREE year agreement.
Hah, Nice. I thought it would be 300 that was the price for the so called Premier Business customers. Good for me. I am going to get it today. Go me.
Got it on premier.....but the company paid for it.
It is only 175.00 for a Premier Business customer. You have to get the qualifying plan with it to get it for 174.99. (instant 125.00 rebate) off the 299.99 price.
I want to try the keyboard if you guys say it's sort of cramped. I thought the tour was pushing it.
I've spoken to several CSRs and all have indicated that ordering over the phone that the $100 MIR becomes instant.
Also starting today there's a sale on the phone in-stores only, supposedly $50 after rebate. And if you can wait till black friday it'll be free (after rebate of course)
Where did you hear this? If this is true then I'll wait to buy it, no need to spend $200 on it just to have it Tuesday.
i'll confirm, more to come at 11 (that's when the stores open)
only $200????the phone?
CANT WAIT TO GET MINE TODAY !!!
I have had it since Wednesday, for free. Guess I am "irreplaceable".
This was my replacement for 7 Bold 9000's that had Trackballitis.
Wow I must admit that is one fancy looking machine!

Just got mine now. Beautiful.
How much did you pay? I'd like to know if it's worth going to a store to get one or just order it online (like I was going to).
Ive been with ATT since 2005 so i got a good deal on it.
You should definitely go to the store, they usually have better deals in store and on top of that you get it the same day instead of overnight shipping.
I've also been with AT&T since 2005 (I didn't even realize until I noticed the date online). I guess I'll head to the store then and see what they can do, sounds like they're doing $50 for everyone extending their contract.
I just picked mine up at the no-commitment price of $299.99!!!
That is without being eligible for an upgrade and without renewing my contract.
I'm guessing its a pricing errorthat will soon be fixed - so get out there and get it right away! (In case it is a store specific mistake - I was at the AT&T branch on Broadway/8th Street in New York)
Any idea how much it was going for ON contract?
I didn't ask - but the guy at the counter next to me got his on upgrade with a 2 year extension to his contract for $50 ($62 including taxes - he was shocked, fully expecting to pay ~$200). They didn't even have the prices up next to the display phones yet.
Thanks for the info, I guess I'll be heading to the store tomorrow (or at least get my dad to since he's the main line).
Just picked up mine at the store, it's on sale for $150 - $100 (MIR) = $50 w/ a 2-yr commitment. if you're not eligible for the 2 yr most stores offer a $75 early upgrade fee to be eligible for the offer.
Where did you get this (location in the US wise)? I called all of the stores around here (two corporate, one reseller) and all of them said $300 with a $100 MIR.
I believe it's for the New York Metro area, I know definitely NYC + Long Island.
SO FYI I just came from the ATT store on Wall St in NYC and just payed $150 before the $100 rebate... GO GET YOUR DEAL!!!!!
When will you SOBs quit buying phones on contract? Everything wrong with America's cell phone service is because you GIVE the oligopoly the ability to dick you around!
So what's the story? Is it more expensive on the website than in stores?
Also, if you just want to use an upgrade on another line but use it on another line and you already have a data plan, can you still get the special price?
Seems like only certain areas are selling it for $50 (on contract), specifically the NYC stores. I'm in the Lancaster, PA market and none of the stores around here have it for anything other than $300. I ended up ordering one online so I'll have it Tuesday.
You can use another line's upgrade, but you'll have to call when you get the phone and have them switch the data package around.
So now that the Storm 2, Bold 9700, and Curve 8530 are out, I guess that all we have to wait for now is the new Blackberry Pearl 9100.... well and the Tour 2, but I don't expect that for a little while.
I'm loving mine. Got it early thanks to being a corp account.

I got mine a few days ago since I'm with AT&T "Premiere". Man this phone is amazing. I did have to pay $299, but that is a non-commitment price.
And how is this $200 on a contract if the no-commitment is only $449? iPhone has $599 no-commitment price tag and same $200 on a contract. This thing should cost $49 on a contract. Right?
Yea, it's kinda weird how that works, huh? The iPhone is sacred, didn't you know? But I agree, it should be the same, especially now that the internet packages are 100% required
In case you haven't gone to the store, it is $49.99 w/ contract (after $100 mail in rebate)
Do you know what really sucks having to pay $599.99 Cdn for the phone in Canada on no commitment and being over $100 less with tax in WA. And the irony is that Blackberry is a Canadian company. Just shows you how fleeced we get up here. I always tell people who want smart phone this: "having a smart phone in Canada isn't a smart move" .
I don't know what's up with the weird pricing, but I picked one up for a grand total of $50 after $100 MIR... woot?
is everyone who is getting for 50 in new york city?
Exchanged my Bold 9000 in for this baby today. and wow, this is the best BB I've ever had. the track pad is so smooth and amazing. Keyboard is a bit cramped compared to the bold, but it's not too noticeable. The resolution is a lot more crisp overall, it's a much better phone. So glad I got it.
Hi, I have a BB Bold 9000 I got 3 months back, could you tell me how did you exchange it for 9700.
Thanks
