The CrunchPad may or may not have
stumbled, but competitors seem to be swooping in for the kill regardless. The latest is Camangi with its WebStation, a 7-inch, Android 1.5-powered tablet said to be shipping in just a few weeks. Detailed specs have still not been made official, but the glass touchscreen is 800 x 480, WiFi 802.11b/g, and there's GPS on tap if you want to take this out into the real world. We found two demonstration videos, both embedded after the break for your viewing pleasure, the first a simple walkthrough while the second shows it struggling to render the
Avatar trailer -- something James Cameron is surely hoping won't be a problem on the final device. Retail price is said to be $399 but the site indicates the first 100 purchasers will get "early bird pricing," whatever that amounts to. Might as well sign up and see. What's another bit of spam these days?
[Thanks, Peter]
If it was 100 bucks cheaper, came with the option to have root & 2.0, it would be awesome.
I'll stick w/ my Archos 5 Android tablet.

Mebbe another toy for under the tree this year?
Can I have mine in Slate Grey Please
I suspect this is just the first of many - Now if they just smooth out the Video Ill Buy one
ANDROID rocks
I like the size, but I think the CPU will be under powered for an 800x480 screen, it uses a Marvell PXA303, which I think is an update of the XScale line they bought from Intel.
I'll wait for a Cortex-A8/A9 based unit.
If it had a 9" or 10" screen with 1024x600 resolution, mini-DVI-I out, and two USB host ports, I'd probably be more interested. Though, there's a few more things I'd want in order to be fully hooked (better CPU, more RAM/storage, etc.). But, by far, the main "sore spot" (for me) for these Android MIDs is: their screens aren't big enough. I really don't want/care-about a 5"-7" device. I want/care-about a 9" or 10" Android tablet.
(though, a quick survey of other reviews suggests it does have one USB port ... which might be ok, but their own site doesn't appear to offer any specs to confirm it)
Looks cool but....
Android should have a version just for tablets like a better wallpaper layout and fit more icons on the screen. The 2.0 GPS would be very nice. JUST SAYING
@Terrillo You don't need a special version of Android for that, just a replacement Home screen that anybody with a standard SDK can write and distribute. Hopefully by the time a big name manufacturer decides to make a tablet like this they go through the bother of writing one and preinstalling it on the device.
Most of the existing Home screen replacements floating around out there are nothing more than minor tweaks of the standard one, but there's nothing dictating that they always have to be that way. You can literally create one from scratch that bears no resemblance to the default home screen at all.

Crunchpad or WebStation?
I'm sorry. I can't believe anyone here is lusting after that. Just doesn't seem compelling in any way.
Android still looks and feels very unpolished. I'll wait to see what Apple has to offer before looking at something like this.
