Creative rolls out third gen Vado HD pocket camcorder
Creative sure seems to be taking the incremental approach to upgrades with its Vado HD pocket camcorders, but if you've found the previous two models just a tad lacking, you might want to consider the company's newly announced 3rd gen model. From the looks of it, most of the core specs remain the same, but Creative is promising some improved low light video recording and manual exposure adjustment, along with a new motion detection mode, support for an external stereo mic, a headphone output, and even the ability to take some still photos. You'll also now get out of the box Mac and PC compatibility, and five glossier than ever colors -- though Creative has curiously dropped the 8GB model in favor of a single 4GB option, which will set you back $179.99.

Everytime I want this type of camcorders, I simply look at my plain digicam that has better optics, optical zoom, oh and it can record video too! I still don't see the market of this flip-type camcorders going anywhere, considering that more and more standard digicams can record in HD and take darn good pictures too.
Why don't they realise that this square form factor camcorder that everybody is churning out are hard to hold and make you look like a dick whilst using them.
"Normal" camcorders, whilst chunkier fit your hand better and are safter because your hand is strapped in - much less chance of dropping it in the grand canyon (almost happened with my point and shoot camera), http://amirite.net
It's meant to be a Pocket cam that's why. Try putting a chunky odd shaped camera in your pocket. It won't feel as good.
"and make you look like a dick whilst using them." Fail at use of whilst and trying to talk cool.
"While and whilst are conjunctions whose primary meaning is "during the time that"."
maybe im blind, i didnt see it on the creative page either.
how many megapixels?
I don't think it's up yet... Donald knows before everyone else ???

Never owned a product from those guys, and clearly never will.
I feel bad for you. I've had many Creative MP3 player and they were the most reliable ones I've ever had.
That may be, but I'm kindda more interested in design and style. Almost every gadget I've ever bought always delivered in terms of what it was made of. But interface, style and design is so important, and Creative could do that for me.
never did that for me
clearly keeping my 8GB
Well, it sure looks like a quality product. (sarcasm)
You're a dick. (serious)
At least my comment had some substance. (this is mine, fuck off)
If any manufacturer manages to cram 1080p 24 or 23.97fps film quality digital video into a small, fashionable, affordable package, they will dominate the market and usher in a new age of average joe indie filmmakers similar to what Canon and Nikon are doing with their video DSLR's.
@poematik14
I'm a little confused as what is holding them back from doing this... what's a 1080p-capable full-frame sensor, 2.8MP? 1920x1440? And a maximum exposure of 1/24? This doesn't seem too technically difficult....
4GB? Pass.
I can throw a 32GB SDHC card in my Kodak zi8.

Make your youtubes shorter, it's preferable.
I don't see this as much of an improvement to call it a gen 3. What I really want is image stabilization.
crap.
Where is the image stabilization? That's why Kodak wins, Zi8 might not be quiet as good but at least Kodak added the most logical item for a hand-held cam.
@MonkeyKing1969 i have a zi8 and the image stabilization isnt that great. Also doesnt shoot things too well when about 2o yards away. I was really hoping to like it much more than I thought I would, especially after the weeks of research. Now with the new 1.06 firmware upgrade it might do the trick, but so far no.
