Don't forget snobs, Apple changed its market approach many years ago when it retail'fied its product line (to the detriment of innovation, quality and specific customer sector) - today Apple really is a competitor to everyone else, not the exclusive brand it once was.

I'd read the small print VERY carefully if I were you.

Their 'unlimited' is defined as a fair usage limit of £500 (total), which accounts to 2500 minutes OR 5000 texts OR 125MB (as there is no free data allowance and is charged at £4 per MB) .

Its pretty obvious that it would never be unlimited anyway. Otherwise you could milk the network for all it was worth.

To be fair, this is a case of "zomg, for-profit organisation serving customers and making money at the same time!".

Tesco are getting a huge amount of the cash spent in the UK, and it's really squeezing the competition, but it's not like they coerce people into their stores.

If people are happy to shop in Tesco stores for everything that they sell, can you really criticize Tesco for that? Given that Tesco mobile is entirely run on O2 infrastructure, do you really think O2 is going to let themselves be undercut? O2 will surely put a stop to any good Tesco deals that would lose them potential customers.

They wouldn't cancel the order when I asked (2 days before ship date), they delivered it and let someone else sign for it even though I had expressly told them I didn't want the good any more, they charged my card when I placed the order and not when it shipped, and 1 month later the goods are still awaiting collection by their supplier.

Oh and they are currently refusing to issue a refund, in breach of UK distance selling regulations. They are a Mobile Virtual Network Operator, which means the infrastructure is solely dependent on the underlying carrier.

I would have to reread the article but I think they mentioned that unlike in America where the iPhone has been selling in walmart for a while the iPhone STILL had some cachet . . . that is until today when it was announced that it would be selling in Tesco. Personally (and as an American), I would think their cachet is not yet in danger. I would think that we call them "big-box retailers". We use the word supermarket but for us the name implies a big grocery store whereas for you IT SEEMS that it implies a store that sells groceries and a plethora of other goods.
