MacBook Air meets bus, bus wins
Struggling to find a little something to be grateful for on this day of Thanksgiving? How about the fact that this isn't your laptop? While details are a tad sketchy, it seems that the owner of this MacBook Air somehow let his prized possession slip under a bus, which promptly drove right over it. Amazingly, the Air does apparently still work (apart from a little issue with the screen), although it's pretty clear that the bus came out ahead in this match-up. Hit up the link below for a few more pics.

How could that possibly still work?
I don't know!
Doesn't seem like it's working, it's more like the backlit is on but that's all...
@Paul Because it was built by Chuck Norris.
@Paul I find it ironic that this still works after being run over by a bus, yet half the ones off the line fail for no reason. And no, I'm not talking about my Xbox, just so we're clear.
@Paul
The motherboard in the MBA is mostly under the keyboard area which is relatively undamaged.
@Paul *Mike Rowe voice* Casue it was built ford tough!
@Paul because it's filled mostly with air in stead of computing power?
@(Unverified)
No... it was filled with pixiedust and puppy dog tails.
Cuz, ya know, Apple is homo.
That's a game-changer, alright.
@Leindurstit No, not really...
@Leindurstit
lol, yeaaaaah, that's awesome. That's what you get with an ultra thin. I'm surprised it wasn't just the drop that did that, pos apples lol.
You mean to tell me that a Macbook Air could not cut a bus in half?
WTH is is good for then?
You probably just need to prepare the notebook a little more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjZFWY2SLGI&fmt=18
You know, quite honestly if this were any other laptop, one wouldn't give a damn. It's just Engadget who gives a damn. Hardly any bit newsworthy, sorry to bash, but who cares if a MacBook got run over by a bus...?
:/
@MeisterDon
I think the fact that it still works makes it worthy of being on Engadget.
@MeisterDon and the fact that you clicked on the article and commented on it with such pride only goes to show how much intrest this pricey cake slicer can, dare i say, serve up. and its pretty newsworthy by the standerd of a website that doesn't really report news, just events in the never-ending timeline of technology.
@MeisterDon how about the fact that it was run-over and it's a slow news day?
It's like the ads showing the ps3 launched through a bravia or the "will it blend?" videos. We're but simple folk, and we love watching stuff getting ripped to shreds.
Then you're all saying that if a Dell or HP laptop were run over by a bus and still worked it'd be on Engadget? Hardly, it's a macbook, specifically a macbook and that's why it is on Engadget.

Even better, the screen still works.
@MeisterDon
Wow. Owned?
@MeisterDon All Macbooks care for their fallen brethren.
@MeisterDon
Maybe Engadget will let you pick the articles! Chapter 11 is fun!
@MeisterDon
To be honest, I think that they put this on the site because over half the commenters here just love to see a destroyed Apple product.
@MeisterDon
you can buy an Acer laptop, throw it under a bus, make it boot and post the picture to Engadget
@MeisterDon The "enagdget are a bunch of apple fanboys" assumptions and comments are getting old.
Which was he a bigger idiot for:
Buying a Macbook Air or letting it go under a bus?
@Arcticpenguins
well according to that logic, if he's an idiot for buying a Macbook Air then he should be smart for putting it under a bus
@DeFo
I lol'd
@Arcticpenguins
Why not both?
@Arcticpenguins letting it go under the bus. Duh.
@Arcticpenguins He was a bigger idiot for wasting money on a MacBook Air
A "little" issue with the screen?
@bla8291
It's sarcasm.
@ThreeDee912 I was playing along with it.
you know.. i absolutely hate apple, cant express the hatred in the english language for that corporation, but lets see a PC do that!
@skaterdude
You do know Apple builds NONE of their hardware right?
You know a PC stands for Personal Computer, which also encompasses Apple?
Ok, you want to see that from a "PC"? Get a toughbook. They actually work right before AND after.
No hate to Apple, just ignorance.
@p0p0 the fact that they use cool looking shit to justify their prices, is why I hate them. so learn something about someones motives before commenting. as for the toughbook....Touché
@skaterdude
Well, let's see a Panasonic Toughbook.... Probably will do better being that they *are* hardened laptops.
@p0p0 also, I guess you should bitch at apple too then, because all of their campaigns call a windows machine, a PC.
So according to your logic, when they say "we are better than a PC", they are basically saying "we are better than ourselves".
Fail.
@skaterdude
Really? Lets just stop this argument here. By that logic, he is correct, the Mac vs PC ads are a fail, and are incorrect. He is just pointing out the facts and I don't believe is trying to get into a war.
@skaterdude
They call Windows systems PCs b/c idiots in the rest of the world have made it so.
What's worse is people I work with (in IT) still insist upon calling a desktop computer a PC and a laptop just a laptop. It is not uncommon for me to hear "does he have a PC or laptop?" most days.
@skaterdude apple = bose
@ack154
Sir, you have my sincere condolences.
@skaterdude
When Apple launched the Mac with the GUI and IBM, their biggest competitor, had the IBM PC, Apple purposely separated themselves form the basic PCs of the time. That marketing has worked out well for Apple, perhaps too well because there are people like you who can’t tell the difference between the PC market and Apple’s marketing campaign to differentiate themselves from non-Mac PCs.
@(Unverified) So are the "I'm a PC and I invented this piece of crap" ads, then.
makes sense that it still works, the electronics are only underneath the upper 3 rows of keys.
the rest is, well....... air.
i wonder if thats covered under apple care?
@SaintAndrew.of course not. acccidental damage. however because it is still working you can do a backup to a hard drive or a data mig to a new computer.
about a month ago dad a co-worker bring his wife's computer into work to show us where their very fat ass cat sat on it and put a huge compression bubble in the screen (an old white macbook from like 3 years ago).
he was actually happy cause he wanted to get a new desktop and now he had an excuse. with a wireless keyboard and mouse they could put in a drawer to keep the cat hair off.
@SaintAndrew
I'm sure they'll straighten something out.
*runs*
cmon..the thing was already broken when it hit the ground!
