Ah, Black Friday. The words send shivers down your spine... do they not? We're sure that you're probably napping right now after a 4AM jaunt to your nearest brick and mortar retailer, where you inevitably trampled some children to get your hands on a Zhu Zhu or that super cheap TV with a 10:1 contrast ratio (hey, it was really cheap!). Still, there are some hard workin', hard spendin' folks who probably haven't had nearly enough of Capitalism Day, and as such, we're going to round up some of the best or most interesting deals we've seen thus far for their shopping pleasure. We've already done a few posts on the matter prior to the big day, and we'll include those here as well. Oh, and we're going to let you know about deals that seem too good to be true or just plain bunk to us, because no one wants you wasting your money... beyond what is considered reasonable by polite society. If you guys have any deals you think are notable, use the tip form (or comments) and let us know!
New deals today:
Dell Zino HD for $199 (buyer beware, it ships with Vista)
PS3 Slim (120GB) with inFAMOUS and Killzone 2 + a $10 Amazon gift certificate (different deals also available at
other retailers)
Westinghouse 32-inch TV for $246 at Target (it is dirt cheap, but probably looks like crap)
TomTom iPhone app 30 percent off until Monday (link goes to App Store)
Previous deals:
Apple's Black Friday deals Black Friday deals roundup: Best Buy, Lenovo, Verizon and more Black Friday deals roundup: Walmart, Target and NewEgg Black Friday deals bonanza round up Black Friday ads leaking all over town, we've rounded them up Sears Black Friday ad revealed, we'll be sleeping off our tryptophan hangovers
So, all this to say that the deals this year are absolutely abysmal. That is all.
Oh, that's a toy hamster on the picture.
second New Reformation the deals just arent there this year...
jeieie i nat
I wish we had black friday in Canada...
@NO DOUBT GET LOUD
It's called boxing day?
Somebody want to explain why my RSS Engadget inbox is now full of crap about black...friday, whatever the hell that is?
I'm in the UK, shut up about this non-event - by the sounds of things you're all totally mistaken that you're going to get some kind of a deal in the shops.
We have something similar at boxing day (apparently US folks dont have boxing day?) to new years over here, nobody believes we'll get deals, but what invariably happens is that the shops are swamped with people returning faulty christmas presents, dumb arsed parents invariably saying their kids were scarred for life, christmas ruined, by some talking doll that doesn't work.
So everybody else just stays home.
@Heliosphan
Wow, the Grinches are out early this year...
@Heliosphan yes we have boxing day in the states it just isn't named that .... it is the largest retail day surpassing black friday ... just wondering why anyone from the UK would care what pre-christmass deals there are in the states .. my 2 cents
@Heliosphan
How dare a US based site discuss things going on in the US.
For shame, Engadget!
@Heliosphan
wow.... i cant say that i have ever been tempted to piss and moan about when a UK based site has stuff/sales/specials specific to the UK.....
i know... you should just buy AOL then you wouldnt have to worry about stuff you dont want to see showing up on this site!
I bought from the local wal-mart last nite the PS3 with Infamous The batman game and the dark knight movie they sold it early I went in around 330am an left by 345 noone in there had an idea where the line was how to start or anything so naturally I took advantage before I could get trampled.
This is one of the cutest e-hamsters indeed! anyway, make sure you get Patches, Chunk, PipSqueak, Mr. Squiggles, and Num Nums now! And mind you guys they go extinct during black friday (tomorrow) Sniff Sniff :D
So adorable especially when they go on sleep mode: http://bit.ly/zhu-zhu-pet-deals-on-black-friday

My daughter's looking for one.

OK, I am revealing my age here a bit, but maybe the author isn't so far away? I appreciated the Black Sabbath album reference, which I suspect was lost on most here. That's allright, it was a great album, and no less odd than the whole Black Friday thing.
Cool!!!

For the love of Chocobos, pick me!
I've have two kids who want the zhu zhu, but I'm not going to pay $60 for one. Found a site online where that notifies you when they come in stock at Amazon, and you don't have to get robbed to get one.

Hope that's a help to anyone trying to track down one of these over the holiday without paying a ridiculous price.
