LG IQ (Monaco) demoed on video, coming to Telus 'this holiday season'
Clocking in at 1:48, this glimpse at LG's IQ (a.k.a. Monaco) is indeed very brief and not much is said. It's got a fingerprint sensor lock, S-class UI (which we knew), and that backing is definitely Windows Mobile 6.5, but for everything else we'll have to refer to the previous specs we've seen leaked. As noted twice by the voice behind the on-screen hand, it's coming "this holiday season" and will be exclusive to Telus, so all the fine print should be revealed soon. Video after the break.

*yawn*
@jdude4 I know right! Gross windows mobile.
Now go on. Downrank me. I command you.
@AndroidRokz
I was going to agree with you
but because you did that:
"now go ahead and downrank me" line
I just can't
Can we stop doing that?
Still not worth it.
I wish phones could be phones again.
@(Unverified)
You mean with cords and rotary dials?
@(Unverified)
Hey, a little vintage here and there can't hurt. Authenticity ftw. After all, who doesn't love spinning those dials over and over? I can't resist!
@(Unverified) continued convergence of our phones, computers, GPSes, wallets, dildoes, backscratchers, and tactical laser weapons is unavoidable.
@theylive Phone/dildo ... now that's a combination I'd pay to see.
it drives me up a wall to hear him say 6 "dot" 5 for some reason.
@wildsage
YES
same with android 1 dot 6 and 2 dot 0
so annoying. I don't why for some reason it sounds snobby even though I know it's not
Kindda cool....
Any news on the price?
most unique phone I've seen.
wonderful. send me one please
This phone looks awesome!!!!
Can someone tell me how to get a comment verified? Im not getting e-mails to confirm... kind of important for the contests.
@Brently
That's just a remnant from the old comment system where you would have to verify comments through an email sent to your address. I believe if you are signed in then your comments should go through without problem.
@Lando Calrissian
I'm signed in, and according to engadget.com I'm replying as and there is a "sign out" option, but my postings appear as anonymous. I also have E-mail me when someone replies activated, but I get no emails.
Nice phone but boo Telus.
Its a snapdragon device ?_?
@drakkus
Thats what the leaked specs say.
Two things about this phone scares me.
1. It runs on windows. Phones that run on windows don't work too fast in my experience.
2. It's LG. I don't know about everyone else, but from what I've noticed, LG phone break and damage very, very quickly. They just do not last long at all.
@KnockSwag HTC HD2. 'Nuff said.

@KnockSwag
I don't know about all LG phones but my Dare has solid build quality.
I accidentally dropped it on the cement floor number of times but it only has tiny dent at the corner.
@KnockSwag I've owned 4 LG phones, and all of them survived multiple falls from heights of more than 5 feet onto concrete. LG makes a quality product.
@lazuline But what I really want is an ANDROID LG phone for Sprint.
@KnockSwag: Exactly my thoughts. I mean, Windows Mobile and LG together. Seriously. LG's older phones are more durable, but their touchscreen phones' build quality are pretty shoddy. Their proprietary UIs are laggy and uninspired so maybe Windows Mobile will do it some good :S
@MrAffrox dude, ive got a rogers Vu915 for 2 and a half years plus a voyager from telus for a year ALL touch and all work great , which one did you have ??
It just looks like chunky chocolate.
this will be the best smartphone in north america when it's released.

@fistacuffs Not to mention that it originally had WinMo7 in it's spec. This will very likely be the first WinMo7 compatible phone sold in the US (rumor has it that the HD2 will also be)
It is as fast as an HD2, and as thin as a Droid. If it were to launch on a US carrier, I would strongly consider it. The only downfall that I can see, is that I love to run cooked ROMs off of XDA Developers, and cooked ROMs for HTC devices are far more plentiful.
@fistacuffs Wow you're right, it's like a superman of phones
The IQ, for people with low IQ. Phones with 3rd party apps FTW.
Wow, where have you been?
You are aware that Windows Mobile has had 3rd party aps since the get-go, right?
@bdslade
I assumed LG made proprietary crappy OS phones.
@Kurian
apparently you failed to read the article then. :P
If you listen closely, you can hear an android notification at 0:08 of the video.. someone doesn't like winmo! or lg..
Lol
Hey, Engadget, it's TELUS, not Telus. Got it?
-jp
WinMo 7 please. 6 feels like buying a laptop with windows XP, sufficient but old
