It looks video centric,, and dumbed down press release language (8X Zoom Lens? What focal length??) doesn't even mention what resolution the stills are. <br><br>No doubt this is a supreme video system, it's not however a stills replacement so Nikon or Canon don't have to worry. Also their lenses will be mountable on Red so it's a win-win situation. Outside of the film realm it's about the only digital source movie-makers will consider now.<br>If Jim sets his mind to take a bite out of the DSLR world then I for one am going to listen.. And then what?<br><br>My beef is that any company can tease with what we want to do but until there's a unit available in the hands of the user the stop hyping it.. Canon and Panasonic spend just as much time developing their cameras, if not more, but they don't give press releases until they're nearly ready to ship. The disadvantage is that the customers don't have any input until they have purchased the camera. With RED development, they get feedback throughout the process and can incorporate that feedback into their products prior to release.
