We're going to start off by stating unequivocally that we think this is a bad, bad idea. The Twitter 360 app, just launched by Presselite, is an
augmented reality app for your
iPhone 3GS which enables you to track your friends by the geolocation of their tweets. The app makes use of the iPhone 3GS's compass to locate the tweeter, then reports back on their location. Now -- if, like us, you want to be able to tweet about the rocking party you're at on a Friday night when you're actually sitting on the couch watching
Mama's Family -- don't worry: you can opt out of the geolocation feature. The Twitter 360 app, sure to be a resounding success with creeps the world over, is available now in the iTunes store for $2.99. Check out a video demonstration of it after the break.
Whats the deal with people wanting to know what is going on to the smallest detail in all their friend's lives and know exactly where they are at all times. Maybe I am starting to become mildly antisocial but its as all this new social networking and communication services are becoming more intrusive.
Err..sorry if that came off as grouchy
@southern78
So I heard you went poop 3 times today!
@southern78
No I'm right there with you. People, especially young people, are starting to spend so much time trying to keep up with every tiny detail in everyone else's life that they're becoming incredibly unproductive.
I definitely think twitter has some valid usefulness, but it, like so many other "social communication" tools out there, is still used primarily for ridiculous updates of trivial anecdotal nonsense
How's that for grouchy?
@Mr Oos
You're bang on dude. Attention and focus is going to suffer with all this hyper-connectivity. I know some people that can't even be bothered to read two sentences, exclaiming it's too much too read...
Everything is short and pointless. Twitter is nothing more than a beacon for the mindless. "I just hate a big ass burger, ugh." "My sister lolz at milk commercials. lol"
Anything possibly meaningful in a conversation is simply unattainable...

Sorry, gotta make a correction on your post there. With the advent of capitalism on cable/satellite (i.e. a bajillion channels), kids these days have become more unfocused than ever. In fact, since TV viewing by kids has increased in the last 15 years, more kids have become diagnosed with ADD, unfortunately and inaccurately. With the TV, we now also have "affordable" video games and Internet access as other outlets of focus-grabbing. Doctors ignore the TV part or the parents lie about how much the kids actually watch. Bad parenting + too much TV = ADD. Diagnosis boomed with the TV being more consumer friendly.
The sad reality to this situation is that people will actually purchase this.
@Needsahaircut
The Developer doesn't think it's sad.
Google Latitude does this for free... and without the need for tweeting!
With that said, none of my friends actually use Latitude, much like Google Wave.

I love Google products but no one else use them it is going annoying. Most of my friends use Yahoo instead of Gmail, that means no Google Talk or other cool things like Wave
Mama's Family... lol You picked the perfect show for a Friday night you're ashamed of.
Old news with the reality browser which came out already on the android platform.. But since this is iPhone.. I'm sure it's better.... ? and the $2.99 is worth it..
@Blackflag486
iPhone has Layar, too. And it's also free. With the twitter search.
@Blackflag486
Yeah, Layer is pretty stalker status already.. Haha
Also, the repeating music in the demo video... grrrrrr.
I mainly use Twitter for news purposes such as following engadget and joystiq, so this is pretty useless to me.
Also, Twitterriffic has BEEN doing this, and it's free.
Sorry, not twitteriffic, layar on iPhone, dunno about android.
Layar already does this and it's free. Why would I buy this app when I already have Layar?
I use twitter to track people I don't like, so when I go all BLABBER SNORT SPIT THPPPPPPPTTTT, I know where to find them.
Layar doesn't allow you to connect with your Twitter login/pass, so you won't be able to find your friends or people your following, am I wrong ?
When I was a young boy, in grammar school in the northeast of the USA, we used to worry that one day the government would spy on all the citizens. Now the problem is that we are all spying on each other.
Really? Your friend would rather tweet you than talk to you when he is feet away from you.
I reject this app
The app is now just $0.99
Hi, I'm Engadget and I post more articles about applications for the iPhone than all other phones combined. Welcome to the site!
@sweet greggo if you hate so much engadget then what are you doing here? Go and play java games in your shitty nokia hahahaha.
ohh another?....walks away..--
Seems like a great app for the criminally minded. Rob your house while you're out...
Mortgage Watchdog
Looks a lot like TwittARound which seems to be still not accepted by Apple.
So knowing the smallest details of somebody's life at that moment is not enough, you have to know their exact location? Privacy is becoming a word that is obsolete.
Looks like TwittARound made it in the App Store, too:
