No I'm right there with you. People, especially young people, are starting to spend so much time trying to keep up with every tiny detail in everyone else's life that they're becoming incredibly unproductive.

I definitely think twitter has some valid usefulness, but it, like so many other "social communication" tools out there, is still used primarily for ridiculous updates of trivial anecdotal nonsense

Sorry, gotta make a correction on your post there. With the advent of capitalism on cable/satellite (i.e. a bajillion channels), kids these days have become more unfocused than ever. In fact, since TV viewing by kids has increased in the last 15 years, more kids have become diagnosed with ADD, unfortunately and inaccurately. With the TV, we now also have "affordable" video games and Internet access as other outlets of focus-grabbing. Doctors ignore the TV part or the parents lie about how much the kids actually watch. Bad parenting + too much TV = ADD.
