Intel's G1 series of drives cost a small fortune for us early adopters. Saw my max write speed go from 95mb/sec to 110mb/sec. Max read went from 250mb/sec to 256mb/sec. Obviously not that exciting on the read but sizable on the write! Using ATTO Disk Benchmark I see write speed increased on 4k blocks up to 8192k blocks. At first the update utility would not see the drive, however enabling AHCI Compatibility Mode in my BIOS corrected this problem.  Thankfully this issue was documented in the Readme under Known Issues and was an easy workaround.  The update went without a hitch and am glad to finally have TRIM support on Windows 7.  I hope that Intel releases the update for G1 users soon as well, was surprised to read that it was only for G2. Since it was new, I didn't have an operating system on it. I tried to install vista and windows 7 to it, upon reaching the install point where you choose where to save windows to, the drive didn't show up. my BIOS recognizes it, but not windows. Anyone have an idea why? The odd thing is that when updating the firmware, I forgot to change from IDE to AHCI mode, yet the update apparently was fine. I had a similar issue with a new drive.  Some systems just won't see it, but there is an easy fix.  Plug the drive into another computer as a secondary drive, create a 100MB (yes, MB) partition and set it as active.
