ViewSonic outs 23-inch VP2365wb and 26-inch VP2655wb IPS LCD monitors
ViewSonic's last round of LCDs were nothing short of unforgettable, but these two might actually grab (and retain) your attention if you consider yourself a "professional." The 23-inch VP2365wb and 26-inch VP2655wb both fall into the firm's VP series of 1080p pro LCDs, and the both of 'em are blessed with IPS panels and 4-port USB hubs. You'll also find pivoting stands on the pair, and while the 23-incher gets a 1,920 x 1,080 native resolution, the big boy steps it up to 1,920 x 1,200 and offers a 118 percent NTSC wide color gamut for those discerning retinas of yours. Interested? The duo is available now if you look in the right places, and while the VP2365wb will cost you just $399, the larger sibling will ding you for $1,299.

I can't remember the last time Viewsonic made a worthwhile monitor. Their product line is just overpriced and under-spec'd.
Shouldn't it be Viewsonic and not ViewSonic?
@glamajamma
No, it is ViewSonic. Look at the bottom left corner of the monitor in the picture.
@make
You can't throw capital letters in the middle of a word! That is ridiculous! Preposterous! Absurd!
@glamajamma
I agree. Caps in the middle of a name are stupid.

I think he was referring to the engadget style guide
I'm still wanting touch enabled LCD screens to become more common place so that any Win7 computer can be a touchscreen computer.
Getting the HP or Sony touch centric PCs to me is a waste. Let me turn my own computer into a full fledge PC that also allows me to touch the screen.
@kjb434 As long as they make those IPS as well lol
I wish I didn't have to stop using firefox and open IE to log into Engadget.
@Joshs Red Pants
It works fine in Firefox for me!
@Joshs Red Pants Get a mac they do not even make IE for it any more thank God...
Where are the 24" 1920x1200 IPS standard gamut monitors god dammit
@Dudeman What's wrong with the Dell U2410?
@knight3d
Dithering and input lag issues (due to image processing) in standard gamut mode.
The 23-inch model looks attractive, but the pricing of the 26-inch one is just odd.
@r3loaded
It's wide gamut, its sRGB mode adds 1-2 frames of proccessing lag and there's annoying graininess/dithering on dark colors if you use that mode
Ugh, why doesn't anyone do 16:10 monitors anymore? 16:9 might be more functional for movies, but I don't use my PC for that, I use it for work, and 16:10 is much better IMO for business use. Shame only the overpriced jammer comes in 16:10. When I've got toolbars in Photoshop and rack stands in Reason 4, 120px makes a difference, it really does.
@Level 5
I agree. I also find that 16:10 is better for watching movies as well, since the media controls will generally appear in the letterboxing areas, rather than covering part of the video.
16:10 doesnt mean youll gain more vertical pixels, it could just as easily mean that youll lose horizontal pixels.
The aspect ratio really doesnt matter.
@(Unverified) 1920 X 1080 vs. 1920 x 1200 means you loose 120 vertical pixels and it really does make a difference.
mmm, 23" IPS panel for $310 shipped (PCconnection)? that's good stuff... it's just too bad that it's Viewsonic.
Eh, I was kind of hoping the 26" would go higher than 1080p in resolution. No objective point to step up to the large size from any other 24" or 23" IPS monitor without an increase in resolution.
The Dell 2709W, albeit a PVA, is a much better deal than this 26" IPS monitor. You can haggle a Dell rep to well below the $929 MSRP.
This has me interested - I'm looking to buy a Dell U2410 just for the quality of the panel (all the extra inputs don't hurt, but the price does).
On an unrelated note, what in the hell is going on with the sample picture on the monitor? I get the birds, that's Viewsonic's "thing', but wtf is up with the table not matching the perspective of the floor and wall and the city outside not matching either? Haha.
ffffffffffff we do not want wide gamut, go away, stop pushing this crap on us
@grumbles
Why don't we want that again?
it looks like it's from 1990's but in a alternate universe.
Too bad it is so fugly and 16:9. Gotta love IPS panels. Though for $1,300 you might as well go buy yourself a 27in iMac with a higher res IPS panel, sadly it's 16:9 though...
Lots of ViewSonic hate on here. I am a total monitor n00b, but I recently purchased a VX2433M and I am very happy with it. The picture is fantastic, and it has HDMI/HDCP, DVI *and* VGA... perfect for my array of devices.
What people won't pay for 3" more.
I manage a facility that recently upgraded systems - including about 40 Viewsonic 2235's. After about a year they started failing like crazy. Their replacement/repair policy is ridiculous (caused much downtime) and we had to fight to have them replace all of our 2235's with 2240's. I just hope I don't have to deal with this nonsense again in one more year. At least they give you a 3 year warranty.
I will never knowingly buy another Viewsonic monitor.
