Thermaltake Level 10 now shipping, ready to rock your socks and wallet off
Thermaltake's Level 10 PC chassis, a 47-pound beautiful behemoth in every way, has completed its almost exactly 9-month march from a March design unveiling to a "now shipping" retail page on Newegg. At $849.99, it ain't cheap, but let's not forget what's really important here: it fits three Blu-ray writers. Happy shopping / minor debt!

I'm strangely aroused...
Dust Magnet
Good luck selling a case for more then I could make a nice computer on newegg for.
@(Unverified) Apple does it all the time....
@nate345
I didn't know apple sold empty cases. You must live in a different land.

im going to be honest... i actually was expecting this to be $1300, so for this price of $850, im actually excited!
I love this case, i would totally pay $850, i was about to pay $1,000~ for the 8-Bay Drobo, maybe ill use that money on this
I see why this wouldn't cost $100, but $850? Jebus!!!
@(Unverified) It's actually a good move. Let's say in 3 months they knock the price down to $425, and everyone sees that's 50% off the msrp, so it looks like a steal, when in fact they're still raping you. If they started out that low, it wouldn't look like as good of a deal when it gets marked down. It's just like Invicta watches; I have one that's msrp is like $800, but picked it up for around $75. Discounts sell, even if you're not getting a good deal because it looks like you are.
Then again, I could be wrong and the price may never drop below $800, which would make it a stupid move...
A ~$500 premium for good looks and exclusivity is quite a bit, though nothing new (Adamo XPS, almost the Sony X and designer goods). Are you really going to spend that extra on something you'll likely keep at home (it's too heavy for LAN games IIRC) and in the study?
@YpoCaramel
Too heavy for LANs, pfft, a real gamer will carry the 20kgs if a LAN is waiting for them
Too much money. Hot, but too much coin.
Definitely one of the weirder cases I've seen. That price point is pretty garbage for what it is, but none the less good luck to them.
Damnit, and I just bought a HDTV...
Nice. And then you can add the $400 power supply.
As awesome as this looks, damn, $850.
i really hope sales never break into double digits.
Price this around $200 to $250 and I'd be interested.
@DWells55
This is worth more than that, i paid $550 NZD for my lan li ultra quiet full tower, was well worth it, though its just a tall big black box, i love it to bits!
I swear the picture used by Engadget makes it look like its a Transformer
The biggest problem with this case is that it's full of plastic (from everything I've read and seen). I'm actually crazy enough to consider getting one, but $850 for a plasticky case = nono. If it was say, completely decked out in brushed aluminum I'd go into debt for it.
@kYing
Also, if you look at the picture of the rear of the case (3rd last Newegg pic, where the I/O is), you can see the PSU bracket not being aligned with the Mobo section. I saw this a lot on the previews and definitely wasn't impressed by how much slack there is in the construction.
@kYing You mean like a nice Lian Li X1000 for $420 maybe? :)
would be a great give away item.
Now if it included 750w PSU, and a mobo+cpu kit lets say a cheap Core i*, it woulda been somethin.
But $850 for a case is pure horsepoop. I'm pretty sure with even my limited skills i can construct a case with the same basic looks - the compartments out of aluminum sheet, it wont looks exactly like this because i'm obviously not a company thats making cases and stuff, but lets say put it together the same way, paint it black and it will cost me not more than $100.
Premium design and all that stuff... meh, give it a $250-300 price and it'll sell like hot cakes.
That thing is sexy as hell.
Also, totally digging the graphical representation of # comments vs. time on The Daily Round Up. Good thinking.
Wow....if the Motorola DROID was a PC....
Well, it's nice to see that someone is still trying to innovate in the space of PC cases. I agree with DWells55 - $200 - $300 and we can talk.
with some sheet metal and some aluminum i can CNC machine this and it'll be nowhere near this price.
You think you've got it bad. In the UK it's £574 ($955) I was tempted by it a few months back even for £400-£500. I think you have to think of it less as a PC case (which there are better for less money) and more of a bit of design furniture.
If exclusivity is the aim then they have achieved it, and for those complaining, you probably weren't the target to begin w/.
BTW, why arent the other case makers stepping up? Even a Chrysler- or Ford-designed case will do for now.
I'd rather not touch anything made by Thermaltake
lol its $1500 here in NZ... so WE have it bad... I can buy a whole new i7 system for that price
Don't worry folks, the sub-$200 knockoffs should start showing up in a couple months. It wasn't that long ago when a case with a side window or fancy plastic faceplate was "exotic" and demanded a huge premium. Now you can get them for $30 WITH a PSU. This is a pretty radical case design, but it doesn't cost much more to manufacture than a normal case. Once there are knockoffs and the novelty wears off, they'll be cheap like everything else.
We got one of these in stock where i work, and we are building a demo machine in it right now. I kinda like it. The quality and finish of the case is great. Just hope it will take the 5970 card that is coming in later today.
Beautiful :). It makes me want to build a new PC right now just for the sake of it
If I cared more about a pretty case than the internals and had more money than sense, I'd buy a Mac.
@(Unverified)
ouch.
Amazing piece... for 600usd I'd buy it for my next pc.
sow where is the Gold cpu Heatsink to go along the pricetag?
Good luck selling that TT
@Island
Who?
Me?
But seriously, I'd consider buying this if it were about 200-300 euros, and I'd definitely buy it if it were 150. It looks extremely good if you ask me.
wow @ an $850 case
thats insane
I'm waiting for one that goes to 11
....$850.........why?........
i've always wanted space for three blu-ray drives...
NOT!!!
shipping is 250. awesome.
@va jj
ouch! It was only $70 for me.
Also, I'm with the others. Nice case for $250-400. Ridiculous for $850
Sexy!!! but a bit pricey.
For over $800, why doesn't it look as good as the prototype shown off in March? It looks... cheap, frankly. Where the hell did all of the shiny, piano black surfaces go? The rounded edges?
They don't seem to understand the premium market. It will pay for design, but that design must be predicated upon good materials.
I'll withhold judgment, but I'm disappointed. While I may be mocked for admitting it, I was going to buy one. I was excited.
BLUE LIGHTS plz!
This isn't a case for the masses, it's a case for people who doesn't have a bottom in their wallet and/or wants something special that others doesn't have. Like Dell Adamo for an example.
