I assume they wanted to make a comparison of quality to e-ink screens, but it's pretty deceptive since it's just an LCD that can be frontlit by the sun or whatever other light source is around. "super-twist" display?  LOL<br><br>Seriously, eInk is NOT the same as a non-backlit LCD.  We've had those!  Your watch or calculator probably is one. Just look at the Jetbook. But this has a backlight; It's a transflective LCD, though with contrast seeming to rival the best reflective LCDs. It also isn't meant for dedicated ebook devices, but rather netbooks and other multipurpose devices. I have been praying for a cheap version of this sort of technology for a while.  I hope they decide to mass market the product at a reasonable cost, and make it ubiquitous rather than keep it high priced and exclusive.  It's much needed in every electronic device.  If the backlight off mode could be real e-ink technology or just as legible / good for the eyes, who could ever complain?  It's a win. One of the videos Charbax posted some time ago gave a little demonstration of an early Pixel Qi model compared to a Toshiba transflective notebook display, with quite an advantage going to the former.<br><br>The goal is to approach e-paper levels of readability in ambient lighting conditions, sacrificing overall color response in the process.  They admitted some time ago to lack the "white" of e-ink (which actually isn't very bright in the first place, only about 60-80% as bright as paperback paper), but I don't know if they've discussed the black point in reflective mode, or if/how OS-based font smoothing techniques can be tweaked (or disabled) for optimal font viewing.<br><br>Still very cool possibility for devices.
