If available, just reprint the PR they sent you and walk away quietly if you are not able to offer a convincing enough spin.

(Promote) Apple products whenever you can. Always have some Apple-related story on your page at all times. If you are someone like Walt Mossburg, spend more time talking about an Apple product during a review of a competing device than the device itself. Essentially give as much free advertising for the brand as possible.

(Punish) companies that bring out products that dare compete with Apple products...real or imaginary. Make sure that no mater how good they are, never say they are as good or better than the Apple counterpart. If possible, just dismiss those products whole cloth. What gives is perhaps that folks here are smart enough to understand that computers are complex items and no company will be 100% perfect from the go on anything. they also understand that the problems are probably not as widespread as folks on sites like this try to make it sound. Because folks will always gripe about a problem but rarely will they praise the lack of problems. We have no idea how many perfectly fine machines are out there. and without that data we can't say if the issues are in 100%, 10% 1% or 1/10th% of the units out there.
Also, the fact is that Apple is doing what they can to resolve the issue. it takes time because they won't want to risk shipping out machines with a dud graphics card and probably have no way of knowing how widespread a faulty batch could be. so destroy them all and start with a new batch. Plus most of the griped machines were custom ordered i7s. so they have to be built before they can be shipped not to mention sending out massive communications to the carriers that are handling the machines to let them know of reports of possible mishandling and mistreatment and to put folks on the guard that if they are found to be doing such they are risking the loss of a lot of business. which adds to the time it takes to replace.

even with all these issues, I'm seeing better customer service than I ever got with Comcast, Sprint, Best Buy Online, Amazon Online or Earthlink. which were my biggest CS nightmares.

Charli

Comments on Apple apologizes for iMac delays, keeps mum on DOA / display issues

@LAY Why this paranoia? Number one rule is that early adoption of something radically new is a gamble.

Also, I don't see how the problem is as common as some may have you think, tech sites are made up mainly of people looking for help, and considering the entire base of MacRumors members is probably less than 1% of Mac owners it seems silly to conclude that lots of thread=widespread problems.
