If they had gone with "gPhone" or the "Google Phone" it would have been very recognizable. And people would instantly gravitate towards it.<br><br>However it's too easy to accuse them of copying Apple (which in essence they would be).<br><br>So I can see why they went with Nexus. Besides it sounds cool. If you're comparing it amongst Android phones, I would say that it's ranked #2 in style because the HTC Hero definitely takes the #1 spot. Based on carrier though, I can see why people would get hyped over it. I love the way the Droid looks. To be honest, when I first saw the NexusOne I thought it was a HTC Hero. The Hero is awesome and I like the Eris which is...Verizon's version of the Hero. The MT3G isn't a bad looking phone. It just has a cheap feel because it's light and has too much plastic in the build. Somebody may want to put that in though :)<br><br>I don't think Google owe's any "rights" to the name Nexus as it is used so extensively in things apart from the cited reference to the book I dream of Electric Sheep --- I guess.<br><br>PS: I did run a BBS a long time ago called Digital Nexus BBS... First, Google Voice has SMS... so why would it be replaced with Gtalk? I could understand the data sim card and then using Google Voice for calls and SMS. Thing is, they just bought Gizmo5 (the VOIP service) last month... so Jan. 5 would be an extremely fast launch date to include fully function VOIP.
