He just just won his 6th championship in the top class. There is only one person in history who has more race wins then him. It's Valientio's stated goal to beat this record. He is one of the most highly paid sports stars in the world who's likeness is instantly recognizable. Rossi is the dominant celebrity in Italy and Spain. One could compare him to both Michael Jordan and Michael Jackson combined in terms of fame. There really isn't a current analogy in American sports to the crazy huge popularity of Rossi in Europe.

Packard Bell is one of the title sponsors for the Fiat Yamaha MotoGP team. http://www.yamahamotogp.com/09WorldChampion/flash/index.html Rossi just clinched this years title for the them. It's not entirely surprising that one the major sponsors of that team wants to capitalize on the publicity. Viewed through the eyes of Europe It's not such a desperate marketing pitch as it would seam.

Analogy: The New York Yankees were sponsored by Dell. They wore a Dell patch on their uniform and Dell provided a chunk of the IT support for the team. If the Yankees won the World Series it would be a no brainier for them to come out with some branded sawg to commemorate the victory.

grumbly

Comments on Packard Bell Dot VR46 gets the endorsement of Valentino Rossi, nobody else

I'm surprised the lid or entire laptop isn't yellow.
