It should have completely had rotated out of the way and had 3 sides drop down in soft touch style, creating a display podium. Especially if it's that big. I find that the capacitative ones are more fingerprint-y than resistive.  Your real gripe should be Maemo.  I used an N810 as my primary music device so as to not look like I was jumping on the Apple iPod touch bandwagon, and it seriously irked me sometimes. OLED displays on mobile devices are quite a bit of a rarity, LCD still rules those markets...
