So it's ok for Nintendo to rehash the GBA 600 times, but God forbid Sony remake their PSP 4 times.

The PSP is still over $100 dollars, the goal for any manufacturer is to bring that cost down, they do that by releasing revisions which use cheaper and smaller chips and less materials.

Actually the GBA was remade three times, norm => SP => Micro.

The original DS plays GBA games similar to the first-gen PS3 playing PS1 games and then it was cut.

Four times. The Brite was a new build, even if the shape remained the same, it had a new screen and slightly different guts.

And if you count the GBA playing ability of the DS, then you get another two revisions there, as well (DS fat, DS lite).

It has- and can- be done.

Sony's not fond of it, though, and it requires a hacked PSP to actually play your UMD rips, so it's not really the same as Sony's previous (and scrapped) proposal to let PSP users do this legitimately.

Personally, I think scrapping that idea was the downfall of the PSP Go.
