The Engadget Show - 004: The decade in gadgets, with special guest Peter Rojas!
What a crazy 10 years, right guys? It's really flown past; the highs, the lows, the stuff in the middle that didn't seem very impressive one way or another. For our final Engadget Show of the decade, we asked site founder Peter Rojas to join us for a look back at our picks for the most important and / or interesting gadget developments since 2000. A hardcore crowd came out just after a gigantic snowstorm to witness the proceedings, and now you get your chance to see how it all went down. This is a long one folks, so grab some popcorn and settle in for the show!

@MoonWalkerCTE
@haskili
I guess i'm not the only one xD
@IceNio I droolz for teh HD
@IceNio
Why do you want to see Joshua Topolsky's face so clearly?
@cmajewsk
Why not?
It's up now, no matter what your reasons for waiting might be. We don't judge!
@Paul Miller
There's not specific reason other than HD - 22" inch screen need high quality video , otherwise it's like butterbutsquash or whatever that you call a mess from too much boiled veggies. xD
I was there!
@Abnormality Lucky!!!
@Abnormality
As was I Abnormality.
[Teal'c voice]
Roach, this is going to take some time. Go with Meat and Reyes and check out the Favela for any signs of Rojas. That's where this guy is headed.
@Digitalx oh oh, I get that one! Though, I am kind of ashamed of it now that I realize what happened.
FINALLY!!
I got up at 5 AM 2 DAYS IN A ROW hoping that the Engadget would put up the video in the morning. And now? At 2:43 P.M. I get on and VOILA, the engadget show.
Any way, thanks Engadg boys!
But what took it so long? Did your upload go to slowly?
@blenderman345
They are still using AOL dial up.
@(Unverified)
Sorry, "Aol"
It hasn't been 10 years since 2000, even since January 1, 2000. It has been 9 years. 2009-2000=9. For the more linear-minded, it was one year since 2000 on January 1, 2001, 2 years on January 1, 2002, and so on until it will be 10 years on January 1, 2010.
@JustintheMiracle
Oh. Screw. I'm either living in the past or just plain mentally deficient.
@JustintheMiracle Actually, if you round off and say that its 2010 right now, it would be 11 years if you include 2000.
@Nitesh
wtf?!
01 Jan 2000 - 01 Jan 2010 = 10 years .. and since jan 01 2010 is only 1 week away, I think its ok to say 10 years .. Oo
@JustintheMiracle *head explode*
I havent't seen it yet since im at work still. BUT what was the freebies in this episode?? I almost almost so close went to the HTC one last time, woulda gotten a edris.
Love the show guys ^.^
Please keep up the great work. and happy holidays.
@BGates
The show with me in it was way better...
@BGates
what happened w/ that interview w/ Woz? Cut off why? Also, why no NYC holiday party like you guys did last year? Other than that, great work!
Podcast download is messed up like last time. Please fix.
Great show but I don't understand why people, when talking about smartphones, often forget about Sony Ericsson P800 (2002) and then P900 (2003). The Treo was great but was 2 years late, the P800 did everything the Treo did...
I'm somewhat dissapointed at myself for watching that whole hour.
Peter Rojas no doubt hates Engadget since he left it. As soon as you leave one project, that means you don't care for it.
@AndroidRokz
No, that means your work there is done and you've got new ideas to pursue. Engadget is a gadget news site, and GDGT is something completely different. There may be a few things that have changed here that he doesn't agree with but I know he's proud of what Josh and the gang do.
8% done and the HD download dies. Great. Same as the last two episodes.
AOL, your CDN sucks.
I think it's your ISP. or computer, because downloading engadget shows is as smooth as butter for me always.
... Yeah I couldnt believe how small yours was either! (10.50-11.02)
Does anyone have a torrent for the HD file?
@BGates
wow indeed. josh is one foxy host. lulz.
@BGates
indeed. josh should not be allowed on video.
@BGates
oh no.. now i look like a major dick. *fades*
Great episode, keep 'em coming guys!
The download from iTunes is terribly slow. I have a 100 mbit connection and this one is pending between 10-150kb/s. Oh the horror of waiting to be entertained!
@zeeke Mine's been on the go for 3 hours now! 9 minutes left! :-)
Why is the iTunes download version not HD? Would be great to have it download in HD :-(
My family thinks I'm an idiot for finding this stuff entertaining.
Great show! You really need to focus on other sections of the audience though, as I thought Dr. Dre might be a sponsor with as much play as that guy with Beats headphones nonchalantly resting on his forehead got.
@Martin C Good, I'm not the only one who noticed that dude.
@Martin C
That was a bit strange... What was with the headphones anyway.
I would assume he thought Bit Shifter might show up.
@Martin C:
Ahahaha.
Haha.
Ha.
No offence, and it's completely subjective, but the music often annoys me.
@Kirtay:
no offence to anyone*
Okay, can we pleasepleaseplease stop with the chiptune? Bit Shifter was good, the next guy was okay, but now I think I'd rather take a cheese grater to my ears.....
