Barista-approved mod shoves a coffeemaker, Mac mini and subwoofer into an iMac DV case
Do you have even the slightest clue what you get when you shove a perfectly operational Mac mini, JBL Spot subwoofer and WMF1 coffeemaker into a perfectly defunct iMac DV case? The iMac CS, that's what. In one of the most bizarre and aspirational mods we've seen in quite some time, one Klaus Diebel has managed to combine three devices that wouldn't typically be shoved within the same enclosure... into the same enclosure. The result is a coffee-making media server that just so happens to boast its own inbuilt sound system, or in other words, exactly what you need to start a street corner java shop. The bad news is that a customized version will set you back at least €300 ($431), but the good news is that you can probably build your own for less. Just make sure you know exactly what you're getting yourself into before embarking -- we've got a vague idea that this won't enhance the lives of many.

"But can it make me some coffee?"
Yes, it can!
Alas, no kitchen sink.
@Bill Gates
More like this thing pwns your "Seattle's Best Netbook/Espresso machine".
@Steve Jobs
Slap Fight!
I have considered gutting my G4 eMac and outfitting it with a webcam, LCD, and a modern.. everything.. and Ubuntu with Docky and globalmenu, Chrome, pitivi, inkscape, so on..
I got the thing for my grandma because the elegant all-in-one enclosure makes it less intimidating..
i dont see how you could make one for cheaper when a mac mini costs 499
@petepete
Yeah I don't understand how that works either.
Maybe he is using the older Mac Mini G4 or first gen intel with the gma950(3100 if lucky).
this guy is my hero
Maybe there will be a MacBook Air Tissue dispenser soon!
@Xent Yeah, like holding five tissues at a time will do you much good.
wow amazing
I'm sorry, but no barista would approve of this.
What barista would serve coffee made from a "standard coffee pad?"
Buy a $1 plastic dripper (if you're really picky, splurge on a $5 porcelain one), cut a hole in the top of this Mac, and use your kettle to pour heated water over some real beans.
This thing is cute to look at but I ain't drinking that bulljive.
@Bill Gates
First, why would anyone want to change the background on the iPhone? That's just crazy talk.
Second, do you care to explain what was going through your mind when you left THIS guy in charge of your company?

I suppose the most obvious answer would be that he LOVES! YOUR! COMPANY! But still...what were you thinking...
@Steve Jobs
Think different!
iMac DV and Leopard? It should be OS 9.
It seems like cramming a subwoofer up against a Mac Mini would be a bad idea... Magnetic fields maybe?
@DCdavid
Perhaps he is using an SSD.
The subwoofer is likely magnetically shielded.
Modern hard drives are not as subject to external magnetic fields as most people think.
But will it blend?
@HardToBelieve
Perhaps. But you still can't right-click.
Is this that hot coffee mod I keep hearing about?

Yes. You get a pointless blog post for the post-holiday editorial lull.
I'll stick with my Margaritaville
Java
@Steve Jobs
You know, my family hasn't purchased anything Apple since they shafted the PowerSchool resellers back when Apple owned PowerSchool. You had impeccable timing on canceling contracts so the resellers would not get paid when the new budget year started for the school districts.
Granted I have an iPod - though I would have loved to own something else like a MBP or an iMac.
Anyway, thank you for your time.

Amazing!
