I used a 3G from March through July and a 3GS since then. I use the device in midtown Manhattan, the financial district, the upper East & West Sides, the FDR drive and Brooklyn Heights. I took my 3GS into an Apple Store for a reality check the other day. I'm getting about five dropped calls every day. The Apple Genius provided some tips like making sure to turn off the phone every day which I was already doing and disabling 3G so you can get some service rather than none. But there was nothing wrong with my phone and nothing unusual about the number of dropped calls. Have you never found yourself looking at five bars in midtown plus the 3G icon yet somehow unable to run a google search? The only thing that keeps me from returning to Verizon and buying an iPod touch is inertia. Interestingly, the NYT reported recently that across the US, AT&T actually has the superior network (except in cities like NY) and that the iPhone's antenna isn't as great as other devices.

Max

Comments on Online iPhone sales back on in New York City

a few moments after engadget posted this their website crashed!

I hate mingers

Comments on Online iPhone sales back on in New York City

"In other news, previously spiking sales of pants in the New York area have suddenly flatlined."

Pant sales were suspendered. A Cell phone companies website no longer displays availability for a device and the world collapses? This stuff happens all the time for different devices...gee I wonder why it made news this time? The research that went into this initially was getting a lame excuse from a customer service rep which you would never take seriously in any other case but this time around their word is gospel? I think what bothers me the most is the lack of rational thinking, not from the commenters but from the blogs running the story and MSM (god I hate that term). Ladies and gentlemen can I ask a question...which seems more likely to you: a) NYC alone is a source of such drain on the entire network that they would risk millions of dollars by halting sales of the device to just those people that buy online (especially since everyone neglects to mention ITS STILL AVAILABLE IN STORES) or b) This was a minor issue with the site and fraud which happens all the time and no one ever mentions it because its not a big deal! Come on people get a grip, this is now officially dog piling for no good reason. As said before if you dont like the service go somewhere else! All this crap about being stuck on a contract with bad service is BS! every carrier gives you like 15-30 days to try the service and if it sucks you cancel it and their is no termination fee, this is nothing new!!!

Andre Vanhorn

Comments on Online iPhone sales back on in New York City

Jesus phone available once more.
