Sheng T108 brushed aluminum netbook appears
Hey, now this isn't your average, everyday, boring netbook now is it? Well, at least not in looks, anyway. The Sheng T108, which has recently been spotted in Shenzhen, China, has a brushed aluminum chassis that makes it stand out from the crowd, to be sure. Internally, you'll find this 10.1-incher boasting an Intel Atom N280 CPU, 2GB of DDR2 memory, and a 250GB hard drive -- nothing volcanically surprising, but not too shabby either. It's also got a 3-cell battery, a VGA port, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi support, a built in webcam, and a SIM card slot for 3G connectivity. The pricing is said to be somewhere in the realm of $300, and while there's no word on availability of this puppy outside of China, we'll certainly keep our eyes peeled for you. One more shot after the break.

Exactly what I need. Sorry but glossy shiny fails.
@(Unverified) Glossy? Looks matte finish to me, or is your LCD screen too glossy?
@Kelvinyam
I believe he is talking about the finish of the computer, not the screen. Many notebooks currently are very shiny everywhere.
@Kelvinyam The laptop will sell for about $300, but I don’t expect to see it outside of China anytime soon. The other down side? It comes with a 3 cell, 3000mAh battery. I wouldn’t expect to get more than 3 or 4 hours of battery life. not so shabby, but ain't that boastful, more details: http://bit.ly/shen-t108-details
looks like the HP dm3
@Markydore I had a hp mini 2140 until recently and it looks really really close. The 2140 wasn't fingerprint-prone on the exterior or the keyboard, just the screen... so I'm guessing this may be similar.
I'm surprised more manufacturers haven't tried materials like this (or carbon fiber, or titanium, or ...) to differentiate their otherwise nearly identical netbooks. Sure it adds cost, but that's kind of the point. Sony sells their netbooks for lots more but with no discernable increase in costs...
Make it a Hackintosh and I'm sold.
@MarkProvanP throw in pinetrail and i'm sold.
@Eraser That would be nice as well, actually. One thought, but does the GMA3150 have OS X drivers? I know OS X can use the GMA950 and the GMA X1300, but has anyone tried using the 3150?
Looks kind of like a smaller, silver ASUS W3J.
looks gorgeous, but a 3 cell battery with that spec? come on...
@NirvanaFC for 300 bucks? come oon..
The keyboard looks that of a Dell Mini, which was very uncomfortable for me to use.
If they would make a 14.1" screen model with 1440X900 resolution I'd do a dance all around my house.
330 and ION or GTFO.
This is sexy! I personally would like this is a full size 15.6" laptop with AMD graphics and "big boy" specs. I am looking at my faux metal sprayed on silver paint on this Toshiba and wishing it was brushed aluminum instead. I'd even pay close to Apple prices for it...
@Chaosdivine your display picture fooled me for a split second XD
@Lucas
lol same here!
Aluminum? Tell these companies to get off my nut sack already.
@Steve Jobs CEO
lmao!
@Steve Jobs CEO
Too funny!
It appears to have a normal shift key on the right side - a huge plus...I hate the small Rshift key on the Lenovo s10e that I have. From the specs here and the looks of the brushed finish, I like it...I like it a lot!
Aluminum is nice, but if the type of aluminum quality is sub standard, you will soon be getting white rust on it.
sounds quite nice for the price, but a 3 cell battery in my mind defeats the point of a netbook.
We'll have to see if this ends up on www.dhgate.com sometime soon (if not already) - got that faux "MacAir Book" clone from em' already and lovin it.

@DrPepper
/\ I fail, sorry for the double-double
I like the way it looks. Very minimal with no branding, and it doesn't look like one of those wedge shaped netbooks.
Use of the word 'chassis' may be incorrect, I think. I believe laptops (as with cars) are either one of two types: body-on-chassis or monocoque. This netbook doesn't look like a monocoque design from the two pics - I expect to see an internal plastic frame supporting some components and anchoring to the brushed aluminum cover (to distinguish from 'case' which may be confused with a carrying case). If I am incorrect, please correct me.
Looks nice, no shiny crap, no fn' logo's slapped all over it and those specs @ $300. I would buy that in a flash.
