The report does not make any sense. Anyway, with the new webOS 1.3.5 update, webOS has now been optimized for performance and battery life. Here is my informal test:

Palm Pre - Big Improvement In Battery Life! Over 8 hours of heavy usage.

Based upon my test, the battery will last all day at work. Most people will not use their phone continuously for 8 hours with the screen fully lit.

I tested my Palm Pre phone by turning the display into a flash light and running multiple applications. It took 5 minutes to drain 1% of the battery. At this rate it will take 8 hours and 20 minutes to fully drain the battery from a 100% charge.

In informal test, I have used the Palm Pre after installing the new webOS 1.3.5 update with pretty heavy usage and it has lasted for over 8 hours with 20% of battery remaining. At this rate, if I use the Palm Pre as a regular phone, I expect it to take at least two days between charge. How goes the apps on the Pre?

I'm up for renewal of my iPhone in a few months, might go for a Pre or an android (Not in the us.. so I don't suffer from AT&T related coverage/overcrowdedness problems) was wondering if the Pre's got the bases covered with apps yet..

I wouldn't go for the Palm Pre if i were you mate... It hasn't got nearly as many apps as the US one (not sure if this new update removes this restriction or not), but more importantly since it isn't on Sprint, you don't get a single turn by turn GPS application.. I'm not sure how significant that is for you, but its kinda annoying seeing as all other major contendors do....

I don't know about non-us or uk stuff... but I can offer this:

FLASH is coming which will make the Pre more awesome, especially if you're tired of single-tasking.
