LG just announced its first commercial products for the fledgling US Mobile DTV standard
approved in October. First up is what appears to be a DTV-ified
LG Lotus clamshell -- a phone first introduced in 2008 but now capable of extracting digital TV from the aether with an assist from that telescoping antenna. Also set for a CES launch is that DP570MH portable DVD player that lets viewers watch up to 4-hours of ATSC-approved Mobile DTV broadcasts before heading back for a charge. LG's also promising more ATSC Mobile DTV devices from Dell (laptops), Kenwood, and others including in-car receivers all using LG's LG2160A ATSC-M/H tuner chip. Still, mobile antennas and DVD players... how can something so new feel so retro?
I guess the comment was deleted.
I like the idea, but couldn't LG put it on a better phone, or at least the LG Voyager Touch.
That face was NOT the last thing I wanted to see before going to bed... CREEPY!
@Old fogie late bloomer Yeah but she can still get it..all 3' 11" of her...
Samsung > LG
Not just the electronics but the models as well.
it has been my understanding that US carriers only allow features once they figure how to charge you for it. Remember how for so long VZW Blackberries did not have wifi? you had to get a data plan. Now that data plans are mandatory on smartphones, wifi has made a comeback. VZW and Att have the Qualcom tv service, FloTV?. so I guess we will only see mobile DTV on smart phones at first.
dtv, this function will make most korean pmps make sense
The model is freaking me out!
Looks like Tv is coming out of the box now the new standard is approved. I surly hope that they make a nicer devices then this ugly phone :(
About freaking time!
Only choice I've had since the digital transition is FloTV, I want OTA too.
One would think LG would want to put a better foot forward out of the gate for TV. An old, ugly Quick Messaging phone and a portable DVD player? That's hardly flagship looking. That antenna sticking out of the LG is a joke.
