Android's somewhere in between, with its only real "killer app" being Google's own apps, the vast majority of which are available on other platforms too (even if not as tightly integrated).

Android doesn't do desktop syncing, which kills it for me (and Google's Outlook plugin to sync to Google Calendar, which then syncs OTA with Android, is not reliable/consistent enough to compete with local syncing via WMDC (for WM) or iTunes (for iPhone), primarily because of differences in how Google Calendar formats PIM data (leading to sync issues)).

In any case, the HD2 is going to be able to run WM7 when it ships, either by official upgrade or XDA-Devs. Also, HTC's phones scheduled for later this year are all slower than the HD2, with the focus being on increased battery life (via the smaller-process Snapdragon revision).

So overall, not a bad phone in terms of short-term future prospects either-- use it with WM6.5.3/Sense today and then upgrade to WM7 in the summer.

amb9800

Comments on HTC HD2 officially headed to T-Mobile

@MichaelSF Yep, HD2 should be awesome, and also a solid idea in terms of WM7 upgradability (which is not the case for MSM72xx devices like the TP2).

I bought my TP2 a week or so after launch for $149 on a 2-year contract.
