Now I'm thinking of cancelling and returning, these new TVs look nicer.

That said, the X is a RGB-LED backlit set. The best update here is the HX which looks like a W-LED backlit set. I get the feeling that it's as good or better than the X though, and the newer software/features make up for any difference in quality. It will probably not cost much more than I've already paid for the X (£1500 - almost $2500), so I'm tempted now to just cancel my current order.

Any views?

Gaurav Sharma

Comments on New Sony Bravia 3D HDTVs coming this Summer with WiFi and local dimming

RealD doesn't use shutters, and therefore no transmitter.

clara

Comments on New Sony Bravia 3D HDTVs coming this Summer with WiFi and local dimming

Wait a minute. I will avoid ExpanD from now on. The shutter glasses were heavy, kept sliding down my nose, and the 3D experience was altogether unconvincing. Passive glasses are much more comfortable.

But I suppose systems with shutter glasses are simpler to manufacture. The screen itself doesn't need much alteration to do 3D. Polarization and wavelength systems would require special screens, and may not be practical yet.

rpieket

Comments on New Sony Bravia 3D HDTVs coming this Summer with WiFi and local dimming

@rpieket

RealD makes both circular polarized and active shutter glasses.
